If homosexuality is supposed to be an orientation, not a choice, then how do you explain Michael Glatze? He quit homosexuality and is now straight.

Go to the links below and read his "coming out" story.

"He was a rising star in the "gay rights" movement, but Michael Glatze now declares not only has he given up activism – he's no longer a homosexual."

Mel White was a staunch conservative Christian and used to write for Falwell, Robertson and the like. Was married 25 years to the same woman and had two kids.

Fought being gay for much of his first 50 yrs of life trying not to be gay. Finally realized that this "choice" was no choice at all. Now helps run a church for gays who have a deep sense of God in their life. The same God that has "released" Glatze.

So how do you explain how one who says God has liberated them from homosexually from the God that also liberated Mel White to be gay?

Glatze was probably never really gay to begin with in my opinion just sexually confused.

DD, I can't. So what? Therefore...what? All homosexuals are like him? Or should BE like him? What?

Good for Michael Glatze. The truth is, human beings are not all the same. Even people who are gay. Some people are born gay, will always be gay, no matter how they behave. Others are completely straight - always will be. And then there are others who are in the middle of Alfred Kinsey's scale - could go either way, as Glatze apparently did.

Glatze may be only fooling himself. His penis will speak louder than his voice box. In the future he may find less hard ons for women he dates and more hard ons for guys pictured in Rolling Stone.

We already established this dynamic.

His orientation is hard wired. We end up with everything from hard straight to hard gay, with shades in between. Your draw from the genetic lotto determines this.

Acting on it is a choice however.

One can be gay, buy into the dogma, and choose to live as a straight person. This is living a lie, but might be ok for some people, not acceptable for others.

The real undercurrent here is the same old, "gay is bad because somebody says god says it is bad." and so you better do what god says or you are bad. See this guy? He is doing what god says, maybe you should too.

How many times have you heard somebody say they've given up smoking for good only to start puffing on them again?

Was this guy a homosexual or bisexual?

Q: Do you smoke after sex?
A: I don't know, I never looked.

I predict Glatze will be "puffing" again soon enough...

I read both of the Michael Glatze stories, and I noticed one important detail: Glatze says that he has renounced doing "gay" things such as pursuing gay partners, putting himself forth as a gay activist leader, and socializing in gay circles. He never says that he has stopped being sexually attracted to other men; nor does he say that he now feels heterosexual desires. As I read his confession, I could easily imagine the word "homosexuality" being replaced with "gambling," "looking at pornography," "using marijuana," etc. This sounds like a classic conversion story, but I don't know that it is my place to try to judge the authenticity of his testimony.

Perhaps a better question that is less open to interpretation is this: The Glatze stories mention that one of the causes that Glatze was trying to address in his gay days was teen suicide amongst youths who thought they might be gay. Now that he has renounced his gay past, is he going to continue doing anything to help young people with this issue?
