This is in a way pretty scary:

During the 40-minute speech, Bush also promised to bring an end to the severe war drought that plagued the nation under Clinton, assuring citizens that the U.S. will engage in at least one Gulf War-level armed conflict in the next four years.

"You better believe we're going to mix it up with somebody at some point during my administration," said Bush, who plans a 250 percent boost in military spending. "Unlike my predecessor, I am fully committed to putting soldiers in battle situations. Otherwise, what is the point of even having a military?"

I love the Onion. They've been hitting pretty solid for a while now.

Remember laughing at that one thinking, "It's not gonna be that bad."

Of course the Onion left out a few details, that the clinton administration had failed to enforce the terms of Saddams cease fire from the first gulf war, had failed to ensure the arms inspectors had the free rein they were guaranteed.

The Onion left out that Sadddam planned to use the oil for food program to build palaces and rebuild his military, while Clinton played around with an intern.

That Saddam would murder hundreds of thousands, while clinton played around with an intern.

That Saddam would use oil for food money to fund terrorists, while clinton played around with an intern.

You do know that Saddam murdered many more people (chemical weapons) during the Reagan and Bush I years, right? While the US government shrugged and uttered empty protests? (Until Saddam threatened our OIL supply - then we got pissed.) Or were Saddam's crime somehow worse because of Monica?

So, the question is this Nwokie:

Under whose watch have more Iraqis been killed: Saddam or George W. Bush?

At least Clinton didn't kill anyone while playing with his intern.

"Of course the Onion left out a few details..."

Man, lighten up Nwokie. You have to admit it is funny - and damned prescient.

Nope, I dont think its funny. It igores the fact that president Bush gave Saddam several opportunities to comply with the cease fire. And only used force as a last resort.

Many more died under Saddam. And at least 90% of those that have died during the current administration, died at Iraqi hands.
