I wish this were a serious effort. I'm tired of this SOB Cheney thinking he's not accountable to anyone. Not part of the EXECUTIVE branch??? Great, let's cut his funding then and then maybe he can decide which branch of government he might be accountable to...

I'm loving this. Cheney is beginning to tip his hand, and be revealed to the general public as the power hungry Machiavelli that he is. This last reach of his is clearly over the line, and it cannot be discussed without being laughed about. At the same time, the amount of power that Cheney has drawn to himself is scary, and all the jokes about Cheney being Bush's pupputmaster are apparently not jokes. Now is when the Bush legacy (or what there is of it) begins to unravel.

More selective outrage.

None of the flaming liberals here seem to be the least bit bothered by Harry Reid's trying to ram the amnesty bill down our throats while his three sons rake in tons of cash as lobbyists, and then lobby their own father into responding to the interests of those who are paying them off.

The reason for this is that most of the posters here are lemmings responding to the liberal line set up by George Soros and moveon.org. Shame on you.

For the record, I have absolutely no idea what Reid is thinking! That Amnesty bill is gonna do all of us a lot of harm. We all should be calling on this bill, or get ready to fight for the few jobs that will pay well in the aftermath.

That smells a bit fishy Deane, but has little comparison to the mess Cheney has himself wrapped in.

I'm bothered by Reid, but I'm far more bothered by Cheney. Since that is where the power center is, and it's capable of a whole lot more damage --has done a lot more damage, my attention is there.

Where are you going with that Deane?

Reid is doing some bad stuff, so he's just bad like Cheney is bad. Either one is bad or not, and let's just forget the little differences and do what exactly?

If Reid is bad, then Cheney is not only worse (that's W), but horrible!

Where do we go from there?

Cheney said he had executive office right not to talk about the meetings in his office about energy talks, but now he says he is not an executive office vice president.

Which is it?

Deane, immigration and Harry Reid have nada to do with Dick Cheney's power grab and you know it. Why not start your own thread about about it if you wish to discuss?

I'm just gonna post the *Plonk!* right now. It's gonna happen, and it's gonna happen right here, very soon.

I'm not bothering to respond to your diversion of topic, Deane - and stop being a hypocrite, since you couldn't "come up with anything" about Cheney either. Post your own thread about Reid and immigration and then maybe someone will "come up with something" there.

Let's look at the elements of said points:

-claim of ongoing selective outrage somehow tainting the discussion surrounding Cheney
(Not supported by discussion)

-claim that "flaming" liberals are not properly bothered by Reid
(flaming not supported any better than Liberal Media Bias currently is)

Again, this is a Cheney thread! Strike two.

-related Reid claims (having nothing to do with Cheney)
---trying to get Amnesty bill passed (worth discussion, IMHO, but not related to Cheney)
---corruption:
----sons being lobbyiests
----father / son circle jerk at our expense.
(All worth some discussion! However, the support necessary for said discussion to be meaningful is off topic and destructive for this discussion, currently focused on Cheney.)

-claims related to pdxradio contributors:
---Most posters here echoing liberal line
----Moveon.org
----The "Evil" Soros
----Most posters here being lemmings
(Likely worthless and highly subjective personal discussion. Support for said claims problematic in the same fashion as noted above)

Good grief Deane! That's quite the spaz you let out there! Thought I would break it down for you, just so you can see very clearly how and why this bleet is just not appropriate for the thread in question.

There's nothing really solid that contributes to the Cheney discussion in progress! In fact, going by percentage of relevant elements, you flat out fail to add any significant value to the discussion at hand.

In the future, consider weighing your posts for off topic and inflammatory content -vs- value added content. You will get more solid responses and look at lot better too. And you recently tried to make the claim that my credence was suffering?

I'll let somebody else type it!

(goes back to work stuff --no solid discussion happening here. Thanks Deane.)

I'm begining to believe there is no such person as "Deane". It's just a random right-wing cliche generator. When it detects certain words, names, or phrases, it spits out assorted crap.

Warner, it would be so fun to write one of those, put it up on the web, and have it update the latest daily!

Re: Cheney.

I wish it were a serious effort as well. Forget all the values differences and just focus on core American things and the law. This guy just flat does not care!

To me, this is really harmful to us longer term. If we let this crap go, without doing something, we will have essentially lowered the bar. Living with that, going forward, is going to prove to be problematic no matter where one is politically.

They think we are stupid. Well, if this goes unchecked, perhaps we are.

"This guy just flat does not care!"

Exactly what is it that makes this guy kick? Just having a massive amount of power (Nixon) doesn't seem to be it . . . maybe he just enjoys seeing how far he can get away with not following the rules. If he was a kid, he'd be serving "life" in juvie hall by now.
