As long as I am on the subject of Mike Phillips, I want to take this opportunity to update everyone on the status of our efforts to start a Benson High School/KBPS Scholarship in memory of Mike. I had hoped to award the first scholarship to a 2008 grad. That may not happen. Despite our best efforts, we have raised less than $2,000 toward the scholarship fund. The non-profit foundation we want to handle investment of the money won't even set up an account for us with less than $50,000. I want to thank the 8 individuals who have contributed to the fund to date. Anything you can do to spread the word about our efforts to create this scholarship as part of Mike's legacy is appreciated.
