I must admit I don't "get" KINK's new TV campaign, which seems to say little more than "we're trying to be hip in Portland." It's even given up on "True to the Music", although the line still appears(ed) in their print ad. Meanwhile, the new Lexus commercials with Diana Krall, Elvis Costello, and John Legend look and feel exactly like KINK "True to the Music" commercials.

KINK was, is, and will always be nothing more than a hold-ver of smug, self righteous extreme left-wingers whose only good songs are ones they figured out were "hep" 30 years later. The one exception was their support of Rodrigo y Gabriela, but then I had to suffer through the smug, self-righteous KINK listener audience throughout the show. Pshaw

Well Mac at least you still find time to listen or at least give them credit for existing. Pretty good marketing even if you find what they do self righteous and are extreme left-wingers. I just love how people can take a music format and turn it political. Gotta love it!!

I believe it means the music is the star and not anything else such as DJ patter, which is limited to being an information source about the music. Whether or not this is true is beside the point. It's the image that's important.
