Some of you may have seen this already. My sister in law emailed me this URL and I have viewed it several times already and each time I am deeply moved. I hope this inspires your day. http://blogpond.com.au/2007/06/12/a-mobile-phone-salesman-called-paul-potts/

Absolutely perfect! This guy nailed it, completely and totally. Got up there and expressed his entire being in 30 seconds of solid emotional expression. If you've never been to the opera, and this guy moved you, go. There is nothing like it, and kudos to this gentlemen for having the strength to get up and perform this. It made me remember music --real music, that speaks of who people are and what they feel. He will be singing for a career going forward. There is no doubt. That performance defines the word passion, and demonstrates mastery of a fine art indeed! Imagine how he felt after having completed his short piece! That had to be a high like no other, and he just deadpans it! Bet he walked off stage feeling just huge! And he sets it up well too. Just gets up there and says it, dead serious. You can feel the tension in the room, because everybody knows there is either pure and clear expression, or a bloody mess. There is no middle ground in this art. (And that seperates pop music from the rest of music, IMHO.) Thank you Chris. yes I had tears --good opera does that to me, when the emotions are clear and human. I feel good this morning.

That's a pretty good one too! I played this for a few people, with no framing. Just sit, watch and listen. The guy is the real deal. Makes an impact every time. That's just cool.

A hundred thanks Chris! This is gorgeous! Perhaps he will be rocketed to a better day job because of the viral exposure on the web. So, any bets on when this gentleman ends up on NPR?

Sweet! It was so awesome watching that guy. It took everything he had to get up there and knock it out of the park! It's also very cool that a fine art, like Opera, can be recognized in this way. He's done selling phones. I went and listened to some of the greats. This guy is on par with the best there have ever been, and we almost missed him! Maybe these goofy talent shows are good for something after all.

Why this story as a whole doesn't have more legs in the US is beyond me. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/main.jhtml?xml=/opinion/2007/06/19/dp1901.xml Paul Potts Wins!
