Check out President Bush's left wrist in this video.

Did someone in Albania really steal his watch while he was glad handing?

Further review of the video, shows the President putting his watch in his pocket, a wise thing to do when shaking a lot of hands in a crowd.

"Further review of the video, shows the President putting his watch in his pocket..."

Even further review shows the watch still on his wrist at 00:59 and gone at 01:03 with no indication of his right hand approaching his left wrist to remove the watch. I'm not buying the WH story - Bush just wants to deny the pickpocket his eBay glory. (not that I blame him...)

"...a wise thing to do when shaking a lot of hands in a crowd."

Typical Bush - first get into a situation, then start putting together a plan.

Awesome!

This gives me hope. He's just stupid, and that's better than just being an ass.

President Bush beat the darling of the Demo party (Ann Richards) for Gov, Al Gore then the suppossedly "electable" John Kerry.
Hes managed the economy to the highest levels in history, he's removed the biggest threat to US interests in decades.

And yet, the demo/liberals still doubt his intelligence.

Oh he's smart, for one thing he made it through fighter pilot training school, I have known a lot of fighter pilots over the years, and never a dumb one.

A truism about politics is that the skills needed to campaign and get elected is not the same as those needed to serve and govern. The Republican Party and Rove are maestros at the campaign and getting their guys elected, no argument there (Bush gets little credit here, he is just the product being sold - recall he lost his campaign for a Texas house seat in 1978 in his Rove-less early days) But they do not know how to run government or properly lead in a constitutional democracy.

To paraphrase, it would be so much easier if we lived under a dictatorship - as long as Bush was the dictator.

Whats not being ran properly, we live in a Republic, not a democracy.

The presidents 2 main jobs are the economy, which is doing pretty well. And national security, thats going pretty well also.

Constitutional democracy and constitutional republic are essentially synonymous, but you are correct that *republic* is the more accurate term to use.

We are not going to agree about the job performance of Bush. You were holding up Bush's ability to get elected as proof of the intelligence he brings to his job as president. My point is that there is no direct correlation between the two different kind of "smarts".

No, that wasw just one of the indicators, the others were, passing advanced fighter training, and the results of his policies, IE the US economy is strong, and the security of the country is in good shape.

I'll take his fighter training one kind of intelligence, but (again) what skills learned there apply to his current job?

"...and the results of his policies, IE the US economy is strong, and the security of the country is in good shape."

I don't give Bush such a rosy report card in these areas. And this is the only area of all that you have mentioned that directly relate to his job as President.

Uh, okay...in a Senate with a Republican majority, that's a real achievement. Any and every nominee coming from Bush would be conservative to some degree (minority Dems in the Senate could only block, they couldn't make their own nominations).

If he's such a brilliant leader and politician then Justice Harriet Meirs would be on the court right now.
