This is the biggest bunch of crap I can imagine. She refuses to eat the jail food, so they release her on medical grounds.

This is nothing more than playing her silly game and giving her whatever she wants, just as she's had all her life. They should have put her out on a chain gang to work up her appetite instead.

I'll bet Charles Manson wishes he would have known how easy it is to get out of a California lock-up.

Good grief! With the world in turmoil because of our President, is THIS what Deane tries to distract us with?

C'mon, that indicted Jefferson dude has a bit more mileage you can squeeze out of him.

Like OMG! This is so totally bitchin'! This is really cool and like perfect for her, because Paris shouldn't have to stay in a jail or something, you know, because she like is so HOT and all, and that would be like so totally degrading. I think the cops who put her in jail are probably like sexist or something probably because she is so famous. Thanx Deane for sharing a story I can like SO totally relate to! BFF!

Not to put too fine of a point on it - but this incident goes WELL beyond " Just another meaningless Paris Hilton story." You can't say, in this case, with her getting obvious special treatment, that it is tabloid stuff. No way. At least I can't.

This is outrageous. Think about the ease at which our legal system was manipulated. Yes, it's happened before. No, I'm not shocked. But I am surprised at how fast the system caved. It was easy PURELY because she is famous. That is the only reason. Not becuase she had a legitimate medical issue. It was to save her from the punishment that she a). Deserved. b). Accepted - with a fucking PRESS CONFERENCE, I might add. c). Was a wholly legal stand. It was by the book. No jury was tampered with. No trial lawyer used sympathy. She did what she was accused of - got caught - and was part of the process as it was designed.

This is NOT an ok thing to do.

There are bigger tragedies. I can keep it all in perspective. But dismissing this as some sort of celebrity-vapid-of-no-consequence story, I feel, is a tad frightening to see in action like this.

It's bullshit.

This kind of thing makes our justice system look so corrupt.

I'm embarrassed to be an American when this kind of thing happens. I don't blame people of colour for being outraged. This is a sick joke.

While this is a far lesser level of crime, it reminds me of when OJ Simpson got away with double murder. Money makes the difference.

The judge and prosecuter both didn't approve of her early release. So my question is this. How in Holy Fucking hell does a lowly sheriff or prison warden somehow have more stinkin' power than a judge or prosecuter?

Let the fuckin' bitch commit suicide or starve herself to death. Fucking Skank Ass Bitch Ho Cunt!

Anyone wanna guess how soon she is spotted out on the town without the tracking bracelet? Or a massive party being thrown at her home?

Seriously, who the hell decided SHE should get her 15 minutes? She is not the slightest bit attractive, she needs to mix in a hamburger or something for her diet, and she comes across as a pompous bitch. She gots NO skillz either!

This "act" she did in jail was a setup, hatched by her and her lawyers I'm betting. The Jailers had to give in! You're not looking at the big picture.

Can you imagine if Paris would have continued and gotten weaker & weaker and then sick? She's skin & bones right now!

How would that make the Jailer look? This was Damage Control! The Hilton's might have Sued the State for Negligence! We all got off easy because they let her go!

I'm going to side with Ms Hilton on this, she was being punished because she was rich and famous. Auto thieves rarely spend over a day in jail, I know of cases of repeat drunk drivers that spend less time in jail than she did.

Yes, shes an spoiled rotten little brat.

As to her talents, since when was talent required to be famous?

The court hearing this morning could not have gone better. The Sheriff's deputies brought her to court in handcuffs. The Judge ordered her back to jail. She's crying and yelling for her Mommy.

It's time a person like her learns that the rules are the same for everyone.

For those who think others serve less time, the answer is not to turn Paris Hilton loose, it's to give the others stiffer sentences and see that they serve them.

Hey, this is so obvious to me on a couple of different levels. First, the media is always looking for, and in fact "needs" these type of stories to keep their ratings up. Don't blame the media, blame the audience!

Secondly, isn't it obvious this is a desperate attempt by Hilton to keep herself in the spotlight? That's what is it is all about for celebs today. Good or bad, doesn't matter. Water-cooler talk, and staying on the front page of the entertaiment media is what really matters.

Of course, as expected, this story is all over cable tonight (6/8). Meantime, how many US military were injured or died today? Won't get that info tonight!

The number of servicemen lost , is small , compared to the numbber of Americans that would be dead, if the President hadnt taken action to remove Saddam.

If you base an evaluation of military operations, soley based on servicemen lost, you will never fight a war.

We would have quit after Bubker (Breeds) hill.

After the British burned the capital, we would have quit.

After the Alamo, I guess the Texzns might as well have surrendered.

After Pearl Harbor, the philippines and the Wake, the US would have surrendered to Japan.

After Cold Harbor Grant would have surendered to Lee.

Saddam was a threat to the shipping lanes in the gulf region, he had already sent his forces inot Kuwait once, and burned the oul fields.

He still had 3 corps, of Armor, the largest Air force in the region, and a very unstable govt.

Everyone today forgets, the way he harrassed the weapons inspectors, and otherwise refused to abide by the cease fire of the first gulf war.

Ok fine.

How come we didn't base our war on that huh? I'll tell you why. Nobody would have authorized it. If that's the extent of the threat, it would have been dealt with without making such a mess.

The biggie was the petrodollar, but we can't talk about that either because then people would know the true damage being done here. Loss of manufacturing jobs, poor energy policy, leveraged national assets, it goes on for a while.

Wonder why the dollar is near parity with Canada?

That's why. Without the petrodollar, our diminished production is not worth as much. Saddam was gonna start that process. It's a threat all right, but not exactly the kind of one we can justify internationally, given the size of the threat is largely our own doing!

Know who is trading in Euros now?

Iran.

My point being that if we had actual news being broadcast on a regular basis, we might not be in this position in the first place. People, with any understanding of the damage being done here for corporate profit, would have long ago applied pressure to correct this.

In this context, Paris fucking Hilton, crying in jail is just not news.

These threads always seem to lead to this pro-war or anti-war discussion. The point is simply this...agree or disagree, our media is more interested in Paris than Baghdad. (And I don't mean Paris, France!). Who is to blame? I tend to not blame the media so much, as they just reflect what a lazy, unconcerned, "what does this have to do with me?" attitude that seems to be all too common in our country today. That is the real story.

True. Bush started the war with a HUGE lie, an unsurmoutable hurdle right there, then his ineptness drove us right into the piss pot we're in now. In hindsight, his decision to flunk out of flight school should have indicated to us the kind of CIC he'd be.

At least Clinton, who avoided VN, tried his darnest to not put Americans in a war.

Comparede to other wars, this one has been ran remarkably well, very low loss of life, on our side. The main mission was accomplished, plus the added bonus of Saddams sons are eliminated.

Its not like after Normady, when 2 bombing missions, killed over 10,000 of our own troops, including the highest ranking officer lost in WWII.

Or in the Civil war, when total idiots resulted in the loss of thousands of troops.

Or in WWII, where after Pearl Harbor, that idiot McArther refused to disburse his aircraft, or prepare his forces for combat.

Paris Hilton and WPE are remarkably and eerily similiar.

Although she's probably richer than he is, they're intellectual equals and share many of the same interests: drinking too much, booger sugar, shirking, avoiding responsibility and lying. They both share the front page and attract and enjoy media exposure.

They would make a really cute couple.
