While I think the Charlie Morning show is sounding decent, I thought it sounded a lot better when Daria was on the show. She brought a lot to the show. Too Bad shes on the Buzz, I just can't stomach the music on the Buzz.
IF Daria is not an option than they should snag Stacey Lynne from MOVIN, and bring her to Mornings on Charlie. Im sorry but that movin format is a joke! Seriously how can anyone take the music they play seriously? They have the worst variety on MOVIN and its the same Cheesy songs every day. That whole Movin format is based on "songs you love to hate." Thats fine for the first couple of days, but then you move on to music that actually has some substance.
Just my 2 cents, which usually makes no sense

Not gonna happen Justin! Daria is under a contract with the Buzz and Stacey Lynne is under a contract with Movin. Can't get out of your contracts, if only it was that easy. I'm still curious how Nelson went from Z100 to the Buzz in just a few days. Don't most contracts have a no compete rule??? The whole no compete thing interests me, can they be broken if you go out and hire a lawyer?

So are you saying if you get replaced by OTTO at one station and let go you are bound by contract not to seek employment at another companies stations? WOW....that really sucks!

Obviously, her curves were built for HDTV, so why hide her in a booth? Just kidding. In all seriousness, I like Daria. I think she has shown that she has real talents, not just the genetic blessings that brought UHF back to life for a few years. I confess though, some music formats chase me quickly, and unfortunately, she has always been associated with stuff I simply cannot listen to without nausea. It seems that every man fantasizes about being her RE-20, but she really does have more to offer than meets the eye.

Back in the day, stations like Z100 kept the jocks on that station for a LONG TIME! Tony Martinez did mornings on Z100 for ( I think) Close to 10 years. Same with Nelson, and Stacey Lynne. Today it seems like the jocks stay on z100 for a very short period of time and then are replaced. Are contracts only for a year or two, compared to back in the day? Im wondering what your average contract is for. 1 year, 2 years, 5????

I think Stacey Lynn would sound better on the charlie Morning show than Daria.
That being said, either or would be a huge improvement to what they have now. Have you heard the woman thats currently on the Charlie Morning show?? She doesn't offer that much to the show.

"The whole no compete thing interests me, can they be broken if you go out and hire a lawyer?"

Money speaks. If you got enough of it (or your potential new employer), you can get your way. If you don't have enough, you're wasting money on the lawyer.

Wouldn't the trick be to get a competing station that wants you to pony up their legal crew and do battle for ya?

Not to be fixated on Nelson, but I have never heard a jock move over to a station as quickly as he did. I could be wrong but it seemed like 2 or 3 days after he left Z100, he was doing mornings on The Buzz. Did he get a lawyer, or on his contract did it state that he could move over to a competing station if let go??
It seems like The bigger well known talent can have a bigger say of what is in their contract and what isin't. so if a station wants a certain jock bad enough, they will put up with revising the contract.

If stacey Lynne joins the Charlie Morning show, maybe Dan Clark can come too and you'll have the morning zoo minus nelson. I wonder if Tony Martinez will ever do radio again?

I really wish someone would go out and bring Dk Erickson back to Portland. I really enjoyed listening to that guy on Z100. not to mention the Third Shift lift. Good stuff.
Theres a lot of old talent I would love to hear on the radio again, not only from Z100, but other stations too. I really liked it when they teamed up mike Chase With Stephanie Steel on The NRK morning show. Remember that show??? S&M. I have some old tapes of that morning show when NRK was brand new, and I must say that was a DAMN FUNNY SHOW! Its too bad Mike Chase is on a country station, because the guy is halarious.

The Early NRK days were AWESOME!! The S&M show rocked!!!! Whats interesting about that show is that Mike Chase's humor was totally edgy on that show, he was by no means a shock jock BUT I remember him bashing Z100 on the air,Ripping on John Muirphy and how stupid Z100 is. I have some of those old recordings too. Not only that, NRK had a night time jock by the name Of Woody who used to RIP on Scott Lander on the air, who was on Z100 at the time. What ever happend to Woody from the Old NRK days?? He sounded like a cocky ass hole on the air, but I gotta admit it was fun to listen to. For some reason, when NRK first came to town, the jocks used to rip on Z100 non stop, and I always thought that was a bit odd because their main competition was KUFO.
Gone are the glory days of NRK, Like Z100 the station has really gone down the toilet.

I'm honestly surprised Mike Chase's name is not brought up more on this website. The guy is damn funny. I havent listened to his show on The Wolf because I can't stand country, but I might start.
Mike Chase and Stephanie Steel were awesome on NRK.

I remember Mike Chase & Stephanie Steel on NRK....

Does anybody remember that police station phone call they used to play all of the time. Mike I only remember referring to the guy as the "Oregon Secessionist", does anybody remember that? He was calling the police station to demand an apology about his ill treatment by the police after trampling the flag outside of a school. He was screaming obscenities at the officer on the other end of the line and saying how he opposed the constitution and the bill of rights. When the officer got him calmed he asked "how long are you going to stay calm" to which the 'Oregon secessionist' caller responded, 100% earnestly "until I get enraged again". That was hilarious. Does anybody know if I can find that online anywhere? I contacted Mike Chase on the wolf about it, and he never responded. I haven't heard that in years but it is by far the most funny police call I've ever heard on the radio. I really want to find that.

Hey Nagelfar, Mike Chase and Stephanie Steel on NRk was by far one of the best morning shows EVER on portland Radio, infact Just as good as the Original Morning Zoo. I have some bits off NRK from S&M not specifically the ones you are talking about. but there are some damn funny bits. The problem is I recorded them on Tape, which makes it hard. I also have some Classic morning Z00 bits where Nelson is talking to The Real Michael Jackson, and Valerie Ring is the White House Operator. Good stuff, that I am so happy that I recorded.
Radio used to sound soooooo good! What the F happend to radio??? It is so sad!

I forgot about S&M (in any other context, that might be an odd way to begin a post...) They were awesome! I always thought that Mike Chase seemed like a genuinely funny guy, and Stephanie was a great partner (and hot, which never hurts!) Those were the days! I am still an NRK fan, but the early days were definitely the best! I still miss Ty and Jayn:-(

I just don't get NRk, that used to be such a great station. While I was never a fan of Marconi, Mike and stephanie were truely awesome. I also remember the night guy woody. He indeed was a cocky asshole, but it totally kept me listening because I wasn't sure what he was going to say next. Anybody know if Woody is still in Radio today? the woody who used to do Nights on NRK!
Today when I turn on NRK, that station is NOTHING like it used to be. Its sad that back in the day they had an awesome morning show and now they have some voice tracked guy, pretending to be live, IN THE MORNING!!! I hear no production ON nrk, the station just sounds really dead!
Radio today FLAT OUT SUCKS!!! Which is Why i will eventually be getting Sirius.

Its too bad you can't post old radio bits on this site, because it sounds like a lot of people have some old recordings of bits from the Glory days of Z100 and NRK back when radio was alive and thriving. I know I have some great old recordings off NRk that would be fun to share with everyone, but I would have no idea how to post them.

Not to be a know-it-all (but I am) Nelson's contract had expired. Management didn't think he had the canastas to leave so they wouldn't pay him what he was worth. Besides me, Nelson was paid the lowest on the show thru the 90's. In my opinion he should have been paid the highest.

Back to the topic: Daria won't be working with the Dr. Doug & Skippy. They parted on good terms, but the desire to part seemed mutual.

...and yes, Mike Chase was one edgy and funny f*ck on the NRK morning show. He has to rely much more on his wits and wry humor on his current show. More power to him.

I have to say that the teaming of Dr. Doug Skippy & Daria was very serindipitous. I would have never thought they would do well, but they did. It is a testament to their respective talents that they made it work so well, but they seemed to want to move in different directions (i.e. Doug & Skippy wanted to conquer morning radio, and Daria didn't want to get up at 3:30 AM....and I don't blame her).

From what I heard, Daria was a pain in the A$$ to work with. Difficult, and would throw crazy Tantrums if things didn't go her way. Im sure they were happy not to work with her, especially at 3:30 in the morning.
Ive heard that from a lot of air talent, when the mics turn off, the claws come out.
I think Stacey Lynne would be the most logical choice to bring over to Charlie.

Daria was the star of that show and I don't think the chemistry would be the same with Stacey Linn. I remember hearing her with Dr. Doug before they all got fired from z100. Seems like she hardly got a word in. Daria always had the last word. Big difference.

I enjoyed Listening to Dr. Doug and Stacey Lynne together on Z100.
I consider that to be the final days of Z100, The end of that station was just right around the corner. They blew out some Damn Good talent, and the remaining talent left or quit. They had such a powerhouse of talent on all dayparts. Ck and the Badboy Broadcast, DK Erickson, Erin O'malley. It just blows my mind to think that a company could just come in and fire some of the best air talent in the country and THEN REPLACE THEM with cheaper, amature sounding jocks. Its so sad that these huge corporations just don't give an F about air talent ANYMORE!
GREAT AIR TALENT MAKES A STATION GREAT......PERIOD!

Maybe they wanted young (immature) sounding jocks because they are targeting young (immature)listners. That's just how Top 40 is. At least Buckhead sounded like a peer of the people they were targeting.

Oh Come on dude2 the talent on Z100 is Awful and has been awful for a while. You honestly think the Buckhead show was the best Z100 could do??? I don't think so. Notice I said amateur not immature. My whole point dude2 is that the talent is WEAK on Z100! The jocks just don't have the right sound and sound very small market.

I listen to both 105 and 97.1 morning shows and hear 97 sound more fun and it seems like those guys are working hard and promoting their show, you can tell out of the speakers...the music drives me nuts but Dr Doug and Skippy sound good, I have stayed loyal to listen to 105 and have tried to stay into it but they have lost me with the same old same old. on the thread topic, Daria I heard was very difficult to work with---its been posted here before..mood swings, calling in sick all the time etc (there was a thread here about it)..the afternoon show there now plays so much musicbut when they talk they are trying to push the gay thing every day. no thanks...Nelson and Terry with Daria might win other than that 105 has tough times ahead. ..just my one cent.

Thats true "that71show" But 97.1 needs more dj's. The morning show sounds good, but after the morning show the station turns into a jukebox with no identity and no personality. Thats only gonna last so long until people go elsewhere. I don't want to hear a jukebox, if I wanted to hear just music I would listen to my IPOD, but i don't. If Charlie REALLY wants to win, they are going to have to bring on more air talent.
Just my 2 cents and they are not nearly as popular as fity cent!
