OK wisenhimer.....Let see 3.7m in Oregon and 9.9% Hispanic. 370 signals in the state including non-comm, etc. and let see about 15 signal doing Spanish language programming of sorts. "Itsvern" the lights are on but nobody is home. Its still less than the average....so quit complaining. Spanish broadcasters aren't trying to take over the world, or Oregon for that matter. They are just trying to make a living like everyone else. |

Mrs_Merkin that reminded me of an engineering class in college with the professor said ok how many Nguyens are in the class, about 6 or 7 raised their hands then he said how many smiths? None. (FYI for those who may not know, Nguyen is a very common name in Vietnam, like Smith here or Rodriguez in Mexico) |

hey Jay_zie, do you really think Bustos programing is better than La X? if you check La Gran D play list you will find in heavy rotation many song nobody play, and not only la gran d, almost every bustos format. just read this article http://lavozhispanicnews.com/news.php?nid=3160 (sorry is in spanish from a local news paper in yakima wa.)what happen to Zorro 96.6 a bustos station in Yakima, after this they switch to K buena in less than a week. i almost forget, La Campeona 880 is even worst than La Pantera |

I think that what compensates some of bustos bad selection in their play list is that they have professional personnel. Very well educated air talent compared to that of La X, La Pantera, and El Rey's Voice-Trackers. |

Voice-Trackers? El rey is the only one doing voice track, but La Pantera and La X are live. about Bustos. yes, they have "very professional on-air talent", that is why they are doing so well book after book in Portland |

"I think that what compensates some of bustos bad selection in their play list is that they have professional personnel. Very well educated air talent compared to that of La X, La Pantera, and El Rey's Voice-Trackers" Jay_zie your on crack.....Bustos programmers are led by the $. Thats why they play alot of songs no one has heard of, when labels dictate what you play.....The local Bustos talent isn't very good. And actually that is the case with almost all Spanish media in PDX. Too much "Radio del Rancho" And everyone thinks he knows what he is doing just because they have been here doing it for awhile..... By the way Big_Ears is correct about the voice tracking and the other stations.....Man alive Jay_zie, you keep proving that you are a bigger spare than I ever gave you credit for being. |

"Bustos programmers are led by the $" you right, let me give you an example: singer: "El Tigrillo Palma" song: "Pachangon En El Desierto", regional mexican charts # 112. Bustos k buena (sacramento, boise, yakima) # 7, 33 times was play this week. |

I live in Beaverton and all I get on channel 47 is snow. I wouldn't call that full power. |
|
Author: Jr_tech Monday, June 11, 2007 - 7:00 pm |
|
I just tried to receive Ch 47 from Hillsboro and got a fair picture with only a small amount of show. Here is the catch... I had to place an attenuator in my UHF antenna line and turn DOWN the signal level (about 10db), to reduce the "snow". I think that the "snow" that I was seeing was actually the higher power digital signals from Ch 46 (Ch 8 Digital) and Ch 48 (Ch 49 Digital) bleeding over the weaker Ch 47 analog. |
|
Author: Semoochie Monday, June 11, 2007 - 8:20 pm |

Assuming we are talking about analog transmission, 93.6kw on UHF channel 47 is NOT full power! It's basically a translator that's allowed to originate programming. Full power on UHF is 5,000kw! I'd like to see the translator that reaches both Vancouver and Salem! |
