Paris Hilton going to jail is HUGE pop culture news. I'm watching Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, and EVERY STATION is covering it. People want to hear you goof on Paris Hilton... We've all heard... "it's like a car accident, you just can't look away." These girls... Paris, Anna, Lindsey, Britney.... the "it" girls of Hollywood are falling apart! These stories not only give you a good "forum" to vent, and crack jokes about these idiots... but you can also point out the fact that drugs, and alcohol are ruining these girls lives... and hope that someone out there will take somthing from it, and maybe THROUGH COMEDY (I know that's hard for some of you) we can reach some kids/people in a positive way. Just my take.

American Idol has recieved more viewers on FOX than any other tv show EVER on FOX, including the simpsons, married with Children ect. With that many viewers, somebody is obviously watching the show and likes to hear about it. I understand why people talk about American Idol on the air, but this non stop talk about Brittney paris, and Lindsey Lohan. Come on, do women really want to hear this stuff 24/7???? Apparently most program directors think so. That says a lot about women in our society. Maybe these women should read a newspaper or watch the news. You can talk about real news and still make it interesting to your demo instead of relying on this tabloid trash for every talk break. Women who are this obsessed with Paris Hilton ect. are the same type of women who have never opened up a book in their life.

Although I must admit, i found myself cracking up over Stacey Lynnes entertainment reports where she makes fun of these girls. Poking fun of these girls always brings a good chuckle. They had Dennis Miller on CNN this past weekend cracking jokes about Paris going to jail. I have never laughed so hard in my laugh.

So, it's been established that no one on this board likes radio talk about American Idol, Paris Smith, Anna Nicole Smith, Lindsey Lohan, etc., and other posts seem to show an aversion to religion, sex, and politics (especially conservative) in general. At the same time, people would like to see live and local stations, where a non-automated personality enhances the music presented by relating to the audience, and not by reading liner cards. Oh, and Heaven forbid anyone should say anything deemed offensive, which nobody could've forseen as such until someone complains to the FCC.
This is a lot of 'no this,' 'no that.' Maybe it's one of the reasons why there are so many automated stations out there, that simply sound like an MP3 player loaded with sweepers and commercials hooked up to a transmitter.
What would people actually want personalities to talk about, is it representative of the general population, and is it something that's already well covered by weather radio?

Smooth Jazz and Triple A stations tend to stay away from tabloid trash, since their listeners are more "sophisticated."
