This year marks the 100th anniversary of The Portland Rose Festival. In the June issue of "Portland Monthly" check out "Rose Festival: 100 Years In Photos" pages 103-112. Wonderful old pictures!

Rose Festival trivia: About week after the Vanport Flood in 1948, the Vanport float theme was changed quickly from "Water Babies" to "Cornucopia".

Well The Starlight Parade on KGW was interesting. Haven't had a chance to see it in years because of work. Watched it for the technical angle since TV stations don't do live parades everyday but then again I DON'T THINK IT WAS TRUELY LIVE!

I believe it was on a 5 second delay. When the camera was on Russ Lewis & Brenda Braxton their lips were out of sync. I guess you can't blame KGW for turning on the delay. So much is on the line with the un-predictable parade audience.

However this delay continued into the 11 O'Clock News with a live report from Cam Johnson on the parade route from Northwest Cable News, who you might remember working for KOIN & KPDX news. KGW flashes "LIVE" on the TV screen and Cam's lips are out of sync.

I guess my question is, should we still call this LIVE?
