Hey Vern...look at the population there. In school they teach English as a second language.
22 stations does seem a little much. They must be making $$ or else they would not do it.

In LA the total radio revenue market amounts to $1Billion!! So they are making money....Its also #2 if not the #1 Hispanic market in the US. Those 22 stations are pulling about 26 shares 12+ so I am thinking they are probably generating about $250m in LA......Again, radio is a business, how many times do we need to remind ourselves its a business. Reminds me of arguements about sports and high priced players.

Correct Radio is a business, but if you are not playing music that people want to hear, you will have a very short life!!

Well apparently there is a market for Spanish radio in LA and here in Portland since they have listeners....But you are correct Beano and that is regardless of language unless your the only outlet a person has....like the only Korean station could be crap but it has info you may want to know, that is if your Korean or can understand the language..

Who would have ever thought that both 1150 and 1520 would broadcast in Spanish. Some 45 yrs ago as a kid living there I often listened to KKEY and KGON. If soneone would have told me that there would be Spanish on the air on these freqs my response would be no way. Glad to see it and hear it. I hope more stations will have Spanish on the air. I know and speak Spanish and it opens up new avenues. While I think Some AMs maybe trying to revamp themselves, I think in today's radio climate Spanish is the bright spot. Look at Bustos, they've been able to put Spanish in Salt Lake in Kansas ect. Bustos and some others are tapping new areas where the Latino pop is growing. I'm not in the biz at all Im merely an observer as well as listener, a longtime one at that.Just want things in your business and my pasion to get better not worse for terestrial radio. Other languages might work too depending on the ethnic make up of any city.Portuguese stns for instance are in Northern and Central California.
