Suke makes more than Issac because Suke played occasionally in the NFL. Issac likes being on the air and has no professional background so is paid less. Best guess salaries for both: Suke: 75G Issac: 30G

I'd say 40k each... maybe 5k extra for reading spots.

There is no way on earth Suke makes close to 75K. He had zero radio background aside from an occasional co-host in SLC before taking over in Portland. He may have played in the NFL, but it was brief, and he was not a name. Isaac has been in the market for 5+ years now, if anything, he makes more than Suke. Probably close to 40K each like Marley said.

By the way if the Fan was run the right way it could be billing MUCH higher than it is. Some of the top billing stations are doing 2.0+ ratios with what the Fan stands in ratings it would pull about $5.4m annually. Which it isn't because it is mostly network radio. Anyway so what if Suke were making $75k... More power to him. I think they are improving and I do like it when he cuts lose....As far as Isaac, just because your with a company doesn't mean your going to be getting paid a great deal. Though I have no clue what he would be getting. I am wondering if he does anything else for the station.

I am basing my estimates on what Mychal Thompson made. He did okay. I think that Suke most likely told Entercom that he would do it but then dictated what he wanted. When one is a former athlete, one can command more than the average journeyman host. I don't think Suke is a financial fool and most likely signed the usual 3-year contract with and option year. I will admit that Suke's performance has much to be desired, but Entercom wanted a former athlete. I think that they could have done a lot better job of attracting a competent former athlete.

Based on the age of the Fan Van, I'd say Eve at KLYC makes more (the Yam Van is a beat-up 70's Dodge).

Canzano is the highest paid writer in the history of the oregonian (a package worth $300,000) according to a close friend who works there but I'm not sure what he makes from the Fan?

speaking of sports radio, I played golf in a tournament this week and my partner was my old friend and fellow radio broadcaster, the fairly well known FREAKIN VOICE OF THE BLAZERS, Bill Schonely. He is such a great man, kind, generous, supportive, makes you feel like you are the most important person. Sadly, his game suffers from his age, but he's a gamer. We had some interesting discussions about many things including the state of sports radio in PDX and he was very diplomatic in his trash talk! The funny thing is, Brian Wheeler was the mc for the dinner and was introduced as the "voice of the blazers" and let me tell you, most of the crowd looked right at Bill and smiled. He is, was and always will be the Blazers. Paul Allen is a freak, Wheeler is so huge they used a dump truck to wheel him in. Dude sweats while sitting still. Sick. It was cool to sit and eat with him while EVERYONE in the room came to pay their respects to him. Linman, Becker, Barrett, Rice, Carlson, Imhoff, Lomax, the fishin guy from the fan, and many more. I felt humbled to be around him and he would introduce me to each person, making sure that they paid attention to who I was, unbelieveable! Great Great Man. That is what sports radio is all about.

Schonely has mastered the art of riding in parades . . . just hop on the float before the TV cameras and hop off just after.

I knew George Pasero and he knew sports. He ate and breathed it. He should have had a similar place on the radio like Canzano. George was one of a kind and usually had a viewpoint that was well researched and down to earth. His kind of reporting and insight are sorely missed.

Who cares what Canzano makes. He does a good job. As for the guys on The Fan... don't they understand that being funny, insightful, and having the ability to occasionally break a story is part of their job description.
