Lets say your on death Row, you have your last meal coming up and you can have anything you want to eat, What would it consist of ? And lets not get all healthy and crap, because your going to be dead soon regardless. So Lets have it, all the trans fats and artery clogging fats are at your fingertips. What would be your last meal?

A Double beef Cheesebuger
3 Krispee Cream Donuts
A side of Onion Rings
a plate of Baccon and eggs
a bowel of Cinnamon toast crunch with Whole milk.

same grandmother - escarole soup
My other grandmother's macaroni salad and cole slaw
Same grandmother's chicken noodle soup
My grandfather's home made wine

God!!!! Here it is 1:06 in the am and Im craving a Cinnabon!
Damn those things are good! Life is short, EAT like you're living on death row. Seriously, so what if a Cinnabon cuts off an extra year of youre life, its worth it right??? So what if you eat 2 double beef Cheeseburgers instead of one, 5 days cut from your life wont matter! It seems that anything that has any flavor is awful for you. So just SCREW IT and eat WHATEVER YOU WANT!!! Id be curious, what kind of diet people on this board have. Do we have any health FREAKS, what does your diet consist of, OR do you just eat whatever you want. And last but not least (HONESTLY) how many times a week do you eat at a Fast Food joint???

I usually hit a fast food place twice a week, but lately its been 3. Speaking of Fast food, has anyone been to Sonic. Holy CRAP there root beer floats good! I'm not sure what secret ingredients they put in them, but boy are they good! THey just opened up a new one on the west side! There burgers are really good also, they remind me a lot of In N Out Burgers. I think Sonic is WAAAAY better than Burgerville, and that says a lot because im a huge BV fan.
Why does Fast food have to taste so damn good?

I try to stay away from fast food (as much as possible) but the other day I had a Baccon Double Cheeseburger at Wendy's along with a large fry and a frosty. My taste buds went into overdrive. Talk about pure deliciousness. The trick is to dunk your fries in the frosty, then take a big bite of the Baccon Double Cheeseburger and you will have a food orgasm.

Keep eating that way buns and you'll need a new screenname....might we call you "Ton-O-Buns" in the near future? Nobody beats burgerville....PERIOD.... Burgerville is a constant source of pure Northwest heaven! Sonic, In N Out, Hot N Now, kind of like some of these radio stations....just a flavor of the month. Burgerville has been here since 1961. They keep coming out with great seasonal classics. Walla Walla onion rings, Yukon Gold fries, and their Halibut fish anything is fantastic. And.....Curse You Chocolate Hazelnut Milkshake!

BTW...I eat at fast food 5 times a week. Subway 6" turkey sub on wheat, no mayo, dijon mustard, baked chips, and a diet coke! Have not been to a burger joint in about two months now so don't get me started!

LISTEN UP NEWBIE (Denny_Crane) Burgerville has been brought up on this board many times, and the stuff being said about it has not been pretty. The last few times I have eaten at a Burgerville, my food has been cold, the burger, COLD, the frys are soggy and my coke tasted like like urine. This has happend more than once! The least they can do is MAKE SURE MY FOOD IS HOT, but they can't even do that, so I will no longer be eating at Burgerville. Not to mention that their prices are a rip off. Sonic has a bigger menu, and better food than Burgerville PERIOD!!! The only bragging rights Burgerville has is their Walla Walla Onion Rings, those are pretty damn good, but other than that, Burgerville is declining bIG TIME! Sonic is number one on my list.

Paul Walker- THE PROBLEM with In N Out expanding is that they will no longer be able to keep the level of freshness with the food. For example In N OUT makes their own french fries daily at each localtion. They start by peeling the potatoes! They make them from scratch. If In N Out starts expanding across the country, they will no longer be making theri own french fries from scratch each day. They will get frozen fries sent to them, already made. Thats the big problem! They will turn into a Mcdonalds. In N Out is known for Quality, i think the quality would decline if they started expanding.

Hey buns...it's me...I retired the name Darktemper as I just don't feel like that anymore. As I have not eaten at Burgerville or any other burger joint for some time I will defer the floor to you! I will one day have to try Sonic....after I shed some Tonnage though!

OK, except In N Out has already expanded to Nevada, Arizona, and as far north as Redding. Would Oregon or Utah really make a big difference?

Have they kept the same level of freshness on the food??? if so, than I say go for it. But if the integrity of the product is compromised than that will be a damn shame.
In my opionion, the neatest part of In N Out is watching the guys in the back peeling the potatoes for the frys. You know your food is fresh, and made at the location you are eating.

Not to be a Burgerville proponent but I have been to some that have made me want to upchuck after eating there. Some Burgerville's are just not good. But most of those I have eaten at have been at or above par for a fast food dining experience. The newest in Salmon Creek is fantastic. There is one downtown PDX that I would not feed to my fat rat poodle! I'd slop the pigs with it but feeding bacon to pigs seem's a little....well just not right!

Nuff Said Pal!

Last meal would be a huge Filet Mignon with all the trimmings at Saylors Old Country Kitchen out by Mall 205!

I'm sorry Denny, but consistancy is something I EXPECT, especially if Im plopin down 6 bucks for a Burgerville meal deal. The least they can do is make sure the burger is hot, how hard is that,????
With sonic, I can always expect a hot tasty burger. With Burgerville, I've gotta flip a coin. Now don't get me wrong, when Burgerville gets it right, they have a damn tastey product, but when I get a cold Peperbaccon cheeseburger basket, THEY WILL BE HEARING FROM ME. I have bitched them out on a couple different occasions. I actually walked up to the counter and yelled "THIS IS THE SECOND TIME MY PEPERBACCON TILLIMOK CHEESEBURGER IS COLD". But nothing changes, I will come back a week later, and again, my burger is cold and my frys are sogged.
Denny, If you haven't tried Sonic, I strongly suggest you try them. I had the double cheeseburger the other day and it was DAMN GOOD! Just make sure you get a Root beer float to go with it.

Sorry man.....unless they suddenly become a weight watchers food item "No Can Do"! Gotta shed some serious tonnage so that I can live to see my grandkids before it's to late or just to hard to do. I'm a young forty and want to at least hit my young seventies!
I'm going home tonight and take my cedar cooking plank and cook me up some wild Alaskan Salmon on the barbeque!

BTW....Denny has retired. I'll try to keep at least that consistant for ya there!

Paul Walker: I have my fingers crossed!

In and Out Burger is the best! It is a simple menu, good price, quality service and no taking shortcuts on the fixings either.

I like to watch the dynamics of fast food places and how they compete. Little shifts in prices here and there, stepping into and out of others niches, etc...

In and Out has never once done any of that crap. They make good burgers, fries, drinks. That is it, and they nail it nearly every time.

From the, always considerate "Will you be eating in your car today Sir?", to the well packaged goodies, they have focused on the core elements of what makes fast food worth it. For those who have not visited one of these places, answering "Yes" to the in the car question nets you a box, with your food nicely placed for consumption in the car! Answering "No" gets your food packaged nicely for a reasonable drive. No open top, no fries at the bottom, etc...

I was somewhere on I-880 in CA, on a consulting trip. Went looking for In and Out because they are not in Oregon. Ended up finding one, surrounded by a Taco Bell, Wendys and Mc Donalds.

No freaking contest! At 10:00 PM, all the places were just dead, with In and Out having people outside to manage the line of cars, take pre-orders, get people some drinks if they needed them, etc...

Excellent!

I am really growing tired of Burgerville. Food is getting spotty and they are beginning to take lots of shortcuts. It is often no longer worth it.

Missing, spot on, about In N Out. I've seen slow drive-thru lines of 20 or more cars, and nobody cares! If that doesn't say something, don't know what does.

The food is relatively inexpensive, fresh, and simply tastes good. Anyone heard of the "secret" In N Out menu? Not listed on the board, but amazing variations on their regular items! Kind of like you are part of a secret club! And when you drive-thru, it's never, "what can I get for you", it's always "how are you today?". (Although I've noticed some Taco Bells starting do this too...yuck!)

Also, there have been other stores trying to copy their formula. In N Out always defends themselves, as they should. I remember one in Eugene a few years ago near Valley River Center. Food never was great, but the concept was very similar. Closed. There is one currently going on in Salt Lake City, and is going to court. My bet is they will lose too.

Ok. You gotta e-mail me a secret item! I never knew.

(that just adds to the excellence)

The "how are you today?" has hit big here in PDX. It's contrived and everybody knows it too. Yuck is right!

For good entertainment, start a therapy session in the drive thru!

--How are you today?

As opposed to yesterday, or does that not matter?

--Excuse me, may I take your order?

Don't you want to know how I am?

--Uhh... Sure!

Today, or yesterday?

--(It gets mixed from here top response tends to be "Today")

Oh, I'm just horrible!

--Sorry, do you want to place an order?

Yeah I do, but I just am not feeling it. Any suggestions?

--(if you get this far, you will get a suggestion)

Good god! Last time I ate one of those, I had the shits for weeks! (feel free to be creative here, according to your personal values and taste. There is lot of fun potential.)

What else sounds good?

--How about a [item]?

--sure, I'll take one of those, if you are sure it's good. Are you sure? Really sure? I just don't know if I can take a bad experience considering how my day is going and all.

Yeah, I'm a bastard sometimes.

my 2 cents . . .

I went to my first In N Out is Sacramento last April. (Yeah, Sacramento . . . basketball tourney) I give thumbs up to the fresh french fries and the drive thru managment, but can't really praise the burger. Burgerville has them beat on that.

In N Out had quite a bit of chaos inside while ordering food -- it WAS lunchtime, as does Burgerville sometimes, but at least with BV, you can sit down and they'll get the food to your table eventually.

I'm thinking the chain that has slid the most is McDonalds.

If I'm going to do fast food, there is only one that I'll drive any distance for (and I'd drive 20 miles for it if I had to!)

Popeye's Chicken!

If they put one here in Vancouver, besides getting even fatter than I am, it would run the KFC's out of business (which would be a good thing!)

For a good burger, no one beats the midwest chain Steak and Shake! Spendy, but worth it!

OK, here we go:

1 order of batter dipped Pacific Cod with fries and gravy from the Mr. Pickwicks on Denman St. in Vancouver(BC) with a generous portion of their "Royal Tartar Sauce" (this place is tied with Captain Ron's seafood in Lincoln City for my favourite fish and chips place.)

OR

(I believe its called)The "Lumberjack Breakfast" at Knight and Day restaraunts in the Lower Mainland of BC consisting of:

3 pancakes
2 pieces of toast(which, of course, I would smother with Peanut Butter)
2 eggs
2 pieces of strip bacon(I don't ususally eat strip bacon, but if I was going to be fried in just a few short hours, why the heck not?)
2 large pieces of back bacon
1 1-litre caraffe of OJ
1 1-litre pot of Canadian Red Rose tea(not the American Red Rose tea--they're a bit different.)

and to top it off, a box of 40 (all chocolate) Timbits and a Double-Double from any Timmy's(gonna die soon anyway, eh?)

With all of the caffeine from the Red Rose Tea and Tim Horton's coffee, my heart would probably explode before the execution anyway!

I have to agree with most of the comments about Boogerville...they seem to have gone downhill the past few years, the last several times I have eaten there I recieved cold food. Another place that seems to serve cold food(at least in their non-deep-fried selections) is Taco-Time. Mexi-Fries?-HA!-who are you trying to kid? The rest of the free world calls them Tater Tots!

A steak the size of my foot from El Gaucho with crab and hollandaise sauce. To be eaten with my mother in law during the last two minutes of an NBA playoff game.

Time would seem to stop.
