Just received word from reliable source: A gas war has broken out on the oregon coast with prices in Newport, this afternoon, dropping from 3.49 to 2.99 if you want audio call local gas stations. |

Wow! It's almost worth driving to Newport to fill up! If I can save 50 cents a gallon and can get 18 gallons, that's $9. It would probably cost me slightly more than that for the actual fuel used to get there and back...but hey, it would be a subsidized trip to the Ocean, anyway! (I wonder what the lines are like at these stations...) |

There you go. Come to the coast this weekend, all kinds of stuff going on. Gas up when you get here. Hell, saving $9. would almost pay for your motel, wouldnt it? |

Nine bucks? If you collect some cans and bottles, and you had made reservations months ago, um, maybe a camping spot. |

I can get a room at the Sands for about $28, right? Well, maybe not on a weekend... |

We were already booked in Cannon Beach, so I'll check out the gas prices. Not in CB of course, in a normal town. |

I never understood the point of these things. In the end, don't the stations lose? |

Purpose of a gas war, is to encourage new customers, the station is losing profits in the short term, hoping to increase their number of customers in the future. |
