I have started a thread for hate.

Go ahead, put it all right here, and do not hold back.

Nice!!

I don't have much hate though. Hmmm....

Ok, I've got mine lined up!

I really hate:

-child molestors. We don't need them, and it's just too sick for rational thought. There are several living near my home. Worrysome...

That's it for people.

I hate the idea that theocracy is somehow ok. It's not warranted and it's oppressive where free and independant thought is concerned. We all are born with that and are encouraged to lose it our entire lives. What a waste and batch of problems we don't need.

I hate cooked peas. Always have always will.

I hate the idea that people are somehow bad. It's like that A grade. We are born with the A, but it's ours to lose. There is extra credit available for those who struggle!

(This is probably why I hate the idea of theocracy)

I hate the accidental drink from the butt cup. Some people will extinguish butts in a covered cup, then leave it out! This is cause for death.

(which is probably why I won't be put in charge --ever.)

I hate hating!

Nobody is perfect, however.

I hate Verizon. Their wireless service is great but their wireless CUSTOMER service is awful. I had Verizon Wireless for two years but had some billing issues. Several times when I called them the customer service agents were rude, unprofessional, and even dishonest with me. Funny, when I had AT&T and (for the last year) T-Mobile for cell service, I've never had ANY issues like this at all...

I've been trying to get my Mom's Verizon DSL service working reliably for a week. (I have half an idea of what I'm doing.) I finally am able to prove it is *NOT* wiring in this old house or the phones (when you disconnect the ENTIRE HOUSE circuit and connect your DSL modem directly to the breakout box coming in from the pole, you know connection problems aren't caused by your house wiring or phones). But when I call the Verizon help line, I get some support droid reading from a script and a checklist - pretty worthless.

My friend once worked for Verizon yellow pages and they sucked, too. It seems that every division of Verizon sucks eggs. I hate that guy in the commercials, too.

Thanks for the warning Andrew...we just hooked up our Verizon $14.95/mo DSL after years of dialup. Should I wait to get the same crappy service you've received, or should I pre-hate them right now?

Andrew....sometimes backing the MTU setting on the router down to say 1452 from 1492 can make things run much smoother. MTU "Maximum Transmission Unit" if to big or bigger than the line can handle will result in loads of dropped packets making it slower than all get out! Worth a shot.....nothing to loose. Remember to power cycle the router after that tweak.

-Qwest, or as I call them, QWORST. I have had all sorts of issues with them over the years and after they decided to cancel my DSL for lack of payment over a week AFTER I paid it, I told them to pack sand.

-Religious types who use the Bible to justify their disdain for people not of their ilk ... but I deduct that you all already have figured that one out.

-People that abuse animals. I LOVE it when the animal turns on THEM!

-Pedophiles and child abusers, etc. The death penalty is too kind for these subhuman swine.

I know every large corporation has it's issues and US Bank is no exception.

I made a 3500 dollar deposit in the ATM one night. The next day, out of habit, I called the automated number to balance things. It was obvious that they had double credited my account ( an additional 3500 was in there ). I talked to customer service, told them, they denied it. DENIED IT. I had worked for US Bank at one time so I knew the lingo and what questions to ask " So these are all collected funds? " I asked. " Yes Mr. Mulrooney " ( all indignant that I would question them ).

" OK - what's your name? And your employee ID number? " ( They'll give that to you knowing that it will be vitually impossible to track them down ). Then I asked " What call center are you at? " Oh THEN he knew he'd better double check the information he was giving me. But he came back with the same mistake.

I said " OK - well then this is my money, eh? Thanks."

Then, two days later, they find their mistake and take out not only the additional mistaken funds - but the actuall correct 3500 TOO! This, of course, bounced my mortgage payment and about 20 other checks. I called them to explain - again - " We haven't made any mistake." I took my complaint to the branch - nothing. They would not admit the mistake nor reverse the 18.50 per overdraft.

So I waited - and sure enough - the recredited back my money - PLUS 10,500. TRIPLE my deposit. I had had enough.

I went to the branch manager - again - and got nowhere. So I said " OK - I'm closing my account. I'll take cash thank you." She gave it to me with her blessing. I documented it all.

Then about two weeks go by and the fucking FBI calls me and they want me to drive to Portland and take a handwriting sample at US Bank HQ. No problem.

I show up and some BITCH is playing all bad cop on me - trying to implicate me on some kind of check kiting scheme. After it was all done, I said' So at what point are you going to ask me MY side of all this? " She relectantly did - I told her. Showed her all my documentation and call logs. All she said was " Well, we'd like our money back." I said " As soon as I get a written apology, I'll give it to you. And I want the branch manager and you to sign it - in fact - I have it right here. It's your choice." It was a scathing admission of fault that made them look VERY bad. But it was ALL true and not spun to favor me with any emotion.

They refused.

I kept the money.

And I HATE them for it.

Rap Music (even the two words together make me ill)

Avacados - There is nothing you can do to an avacado to make it edible!

Liver - Do you know what the liver does? And you still want to eat it?

Snails - I refuse to eat anything that leaves a slimey trail when it moves. (Keep your mind out of the gutter!)

Snakes - Snakes were put on earth to be one thing. Targets!

That's about all I can think of right now.

As far as hating any person, not really. I can't think of anyone that I actually hate. To me that would intone that I would wish some evil or ill on someone.

Now, there a lot of people I can't stand; Hillary Clinton, Christene Gregoire, Michael Moore (see other thread), Al Gore, Michael Jackson, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Dennis Rodman, Howard Stern and many others.

Do I hate them, no. Would I wish something like cancer on them, no. Would I give them the right time if I had an armful of Seiko watches, No!

So there!

Jerry Seinfeld

I don't like it when my wife uses the microwave, sets it for 1 minute, and at around 46 seconds or so, pulls the door open mid-microwaving and leaves the countdown clock displayed instead of the actual time clock displayed. It seems unsafe #1 - and #2 I don't like it.

Darktemper, the problem is the modem itself keep dropping the DSL connection - it's not a problem communicating with it. (It's a combo DSL/router.)

Edselehr, my problem with Verizon is how they are handling this problem, not that I have a problem. I don't mind having a DSL issue as long as they resolve it. If you are one of the lucky ones who has no issues (you may be), just stick with what you got for DSL. Me, I'm one of the lucky ones with Qwest - my DSL connection with them has been rock solid, for years. I even run my web server off of it at home!

The MTU is a component on telco side. Often a tweak on this setting can cure some problems. MTU has no effect on the local side...only on keeping a good connection going to the DSL provider. I have a hunch it is not this but should be easy to change on your router.

1) Forum Trolls
2) The forced sunsetting of NTSC broadcasting
3) "HD Radio" interference
4) Postmodernism
5) The use dirty rhetorical tricks to shut down discussion (this should have been given a better name than "Political Correctness").
6) Clever marketing names for ideological positions that are designed to denigrate dissenters.

Commonly used examples of #6 include:

* "Pro-Life" The label suggests that if you do not agree with the Pro-Life position, you must be anti-life or pro-death. Oh, you wretched, morbid person, tsk, tsk, tsk!

* "Pro-Choice" Although virtually everyone knows what choice this refers to, disagreeing with the position suggests that you have a general problem with allowing people to make choices. Oh, you wretched, fascist control freak, tsk, tsk, tsk!

* "Progressive" This one I find really arrogant because it suggests that policies bearing this label are _the_ way to progress. It also suggests that the concept of progress is absolute, not acknowledging the fact that people make the judgement of what constitutes progress, and asking a number of people about their idea of progress will yield various different answers. Disagree with things that are progressive, and you are a wreteched, uncivilized knuckle-dragger, tsk, tsk, tsk.

* "Faith-Based" If you oppose faith-based things, regardless of how they are funded or implemented, you must have some kind of a problem with religious freedom. This one annoys me more than the others because there are people, like Victor Boc, who go out of their way to make sure that the label is only used in a positve context. In other words, if you made the argument that the 9/11 terrorist attacks were faith-based acts, these people would jump all over you.

Hey, for what it's worth, Verizon finally fixed my Mom's DSL. It took five calls to support (which is truly the WORST I've ever dealt with) just to get them to agree to send someone to fix it! The previous times, after patiently explaining the problem was intermittent (works sometimes, then stops, then starts again), they'd just test the DSL circuit when it seemed to work and then proclaim problem solved - fixed itself! Ticket closed. The worst came when I'd call support again and the auto menu would report that they'd fixed my problem and would not let me report a new one!!! The only options were repeat that, main menu, or hang up. I was ready to throw the phone out the window!!! I finally selected "sales" which got me a live person immediately and got them to connect me to tech support.

When they finally sent someone out, the Verizon tech was amazed we'd ever gotten a DSL connection, the line quality was so bad (this is out in the sticks in a small town). It took him five hours to fix it, and then he came back the next day to try to fix static in the voice line (still didn't get that fixed). This for a problem that they kept insisting didn't exist!

I did learn that if you ever have a problem like this with your Verizon DSL, *DO NOT* call support! Instead, post your problem on www.dslreports.com. There's a special private forum where Verizon techs who seem more knowledgable than the call center folks can help you with your problem, so you can lay it all out in detail instead of trying to explain to a droid who was trained last week to read a checklist.
