Last Friday, I heard Randi Rhodes trying to insult the Republican candidates in as many ways as she could. That's fine by me but she started taking about Republican homophobia. She continued on with that subject as she made snide remarks about cousins who were couples because Guiliani had been married to his cousin. She said that Republicans ought to support abortion if they're messing around with their cousins. I think this is hate speech.

There are some good people who married thier cousins, including Einstein, Johann Sebastian Bach and Eleanor Roosevelt.

I've noticed what can only be described as over the top hatred coming from Randi Rhodes for months now.

If it's wrong when a conservative does it, and it is, then it's wrong for liberals to do it.

Randi Rhodes comes close to being the Rush Limbaugh of the left ("close" maybe only because she hasn't had as many years on the radio to make as many outrageous comments as Rush). Previous feedback on this board about her is consistent with this opinion. Randi can be insightful (just as Rush can, I assume) but she pushes the envelope of decorum too often.

But she's also good at pushing the hot buttons of her True Believers (again, just as Rush does) so she will not be going anywhere anytime soon.

If the right weren't a bunch of blind, hypocritical lemmings, they might have responded like, "Yeah, I hate it when my favorite right wing talk host says something disingenuous, too" but they don't see anything wrong when the lies and hypocracy comes from the right.

Randi Rhodes is grating and obnoxious - one of the few Air America hosts I can rarely listen to for very long. She seems totally enthralled with the "Looney Left" - the wacky conspiracy theorists. "Bush is bad" seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy for her, no matter what he does (Bush offers plenty of legitimate reasons to criticize him; Randi's are often petty and hateful).

Randi is an example of what is bad about talk radio on either side of the political spectrum. But like Rush and Michael Weiner, she's got an audience so she's going to be sticking around for a while, it seems.

There's NO excuse for Randi to act like Rush or a shock jock. The truth about what the Bush administration is over the top, as it is. Thom Hartmann is very entertaining just by showcasing the duplicitousness and irrational behavior of the right.

The content of right wing radio and liberal radio is usually comparing apples to oranges but Randi is an embarrassment. I doubt that Randi convinces anybody who needs convincing that the Bush administion is something nobody should support. They'd be too put off by her hate speech.

I like Randi Rhodes.

She is pushing a little hard right now, but the core elements of her show have not changed. Still publishes facts, does research, corrections, etc...

If anything, she has put more focus on just how ugly many members of the GOP are right now. It's not nice, likely not all that productive, but it is very thearaputic. There are worse things in this world.

I for one, have not forgotten all the bad things that have happened to us, nor the blatent attempts at redefinition of our founding values. This is being done by a lot of really ugly people and it sucks huge.

Unlike Limbaugh, it's very difficult to find a source of lies and or deliberate misinformation used repeatedly by Randi Rhodes.

When that changes, I'll reconsider, but for now the core of her show is solid --it's just not all that nice.

On the topic of Republican homophobia, I'm sorry but the level of general denial and flat out projection going on with many members of the GOP is just astounding. Might seem like hate speech, but then again, it might just be some people are a bit sick, and or twisted from having to live the contortions of reason necessary to please a growing segment of bigots, (that's a large chunk of the base --sorry if that hurts, it's the way I see it), while trying at the same time to appear reasonable and rational to the rest of the population.

Being that two faced all the time has just got to hose a person up.

Remember the Bush sucks discussion we had a while back? I said I would tone it down somewhat and will. No biggie. My greater point is expressing that, and extending it to those members of the "do as I say and not as I do GOP", is not exactly a fringe activity or viewpoint any longer. Thus, she is on the air, has an audience and that will continue.

It's sad, but if that is tolerated, then perhaps we do have balance now in the media. If so, I'm all for it.

Frankly, I think Limbaugh is just as horrible as some think Randi is. I think she is more journalistic, but not to a degree that makes her so much better.

If this annoys people, then clean up both sides, or deal. That's my core thought on the whole mess.

Like others have said, it's non-stop vitriol about the commander in chief. Mr. Bush can do nothing right. You'll never hear about how the Bush administration has helped high minority home ownership, how Mr. Bush has a record high minority cabinet, how interest rates are down near historic lows and unemployment is very low.

So when people snipe from that myopic perspective, they lose all credibility.

While I did not care for Mr. Clinton's politics, even I concede that he kept our economy humming along. While I believe it was at the expense of the military-which he gutted, at least he did what he needed to do to keep his base happy.

My displeasure with Mr. Clinton was civil. I just wanted him out of office. Listen to Randi Rhodes and you'll see what I'm talking about.
