CSN tried covering up 105.5 in Salem, but the loyal "Bob FM" listeners complained, and the CSN translator was pulled Now, CSN is covering up 101.9 in Eugene! All of us loyal KINK listeners need to complain to the FCC, and get this garbage taken off! CSN already covers Eugene/Springfield on both 88.5 and 99.5.

Having been in the Christian translator business in the past, I have hesitated to complain about others, but 99.5 and now 101.9 are over the top, and I do plan to write letters regarding 101.9. The following is quoted from a 2005 PDX Radio Board post by "Billboise" regarding similar situations at that time: Write a complaint letter to 99.5 "The Wolf". Have them file a complaint to the FCC: Note this in 74.1203 (a)(3)"regardless of the quality of such reception, the strength of the signal so used..." Sec. 74.1203 Interference. (a) An authorized FM translator or booster station will not be permitted to continue to operate if it causes any actual interference to: (1) The transmission of any authorized broadcast station; or <snip> (3) The direct reception by the public of the off-the-air signals of any authorized broadcast station including TV Channel 6 stations, Class D (secondary) noncommercial educational FM stations, and previously authorized and operating FM translators and FM booster stations. Interference will be considered to occur whenever reception of a regularly used signal is impaired by the signals radiated by the FM translator or booster station, regardless of the quality of such reception, the strength of the signal so used, or the channel on which the protected signal is transmitted. <snip> (b) If interference cannot be properly eliminated by the application of suitable techniques, operation of the offending FM translator or booster station shall be suspended and shall not be resumed until the interference has been eliminated. <snip> By Jr_tech on Saturday, April 16, 2005 - 8:41 pm >>"Getting back to Bob FM....Why is that CSN translator still on the air in Salem?" As I understand it, calls and e-mails to the station that is being blocked by a translator may or may not be effective. If you want results: 1.Write a complaint letter to the FCC describing the reception problem at your location. Include as much detail as possible. 2. Copy to the station being blocked (Bob FM in this case). 3. Copy to the station causing the problem (CSN in this case). 4. Wait...I think the FCC must answer your complaint in 30 days.

It's also worth noting that both 99.5 and 101.9 are broadcasting from the same site, and have identical coverage areas. CSN seems to enjoy covering up as many commercial frequencies as possible. Plus, their audio quality sounds as nasty as a 32k internet stream. CSN is a radio virus, that needs to be stopped!

I'm assuming that CSN doesn't stand for "Crosby, Stills & Nash." What does it stand for?
