Is anyone else listening and/or interested in this differently presented positions?

I've seen him as a regular on O'Reilly, I like his viewpoint. He's funny, but sensible.

Dennis Miller is spot on.
He gets the terror thing.
I'm also with him on WMD's.

What is it exactly that he says about WMD's that you agree with? That's one thing ( among many ) that I don't know about him.

For what it's worth, here's a Dennis Miller sampler:

“There's nothing wrong with being shallow as long as you're insightful about it.”

“If Clinton had only attacked terrorism as much as he attacks George Bush we wouldn't be in this problem.”

“Liberals should not overplay this weapons of mass destruction card, because you want me to tell you the truth? Most of us are not going to care if they don't find these weapons of mass destruction. It's enough for a lot of us to see those kids smiling on that street again.”

“I'm a comedian, for God's sake. Viewers shouldn't trust me. And you know what? They're hip enough to know they shouldn't trust me. I'm just doing stand-up comedy.”

“The only way the French are going in is if we tell them we found truffles in Iraq.”

"I don't know what I think of George W. Bush when he first got in, but I've grown fond of the man, and maybe it's the times we live in. They say he's not an environmentalist. But every time I see his ranch on TV, it looks pretty nice. You know something, if we all took care of our own, we'd have a great environment."

"The simple fact is, you've got to view this war like we've been on a long family car ride. Bush is the father and he's been screaming 'don't make me come back there!' for around 200 miles now and it just reached the point where we had to pull the car over and the bad kid is going to get the spanking of his life."

"Michael Moore simultaneously represents everything I detest in a human being and everything I feel obligated to defend in an American. Quite simply, it is that stupid moron's right to be that utterly, completely wrong."

"I'll say this about the war protesters: At least most of them are only putting duct tape across their mouths so I can still tell the rest of them to blow it out their ass."

Here's a transcript of an interesting seminar from 2003 titled "Who's Funnier: the Left or the Right?" The panel includes Campbell Brown, Garry Trudeau, John Podesta, Drew Carey, Stephen Colbert, Phil Hendrie, Matthew Cooper and Greg Proops.

I dunno, I have always found Dennis to be wry, and like most folks who value popularity over substance, kinduv a sheep. Funny, but not any better or brighter than many alumni of the SNL franchise. Smarmy, elbow patch smartass. Like that pathetic prof who still flirts with the frosh.

I find it interesting to contrast him with another often funnier conservative, Charles Barkley. Unlike Dennis, Sir Chuck has no love for this administration or much for this war, and often keenly observes that prejudiced people are running the government.

He can dunk on Dennis too.

I've listened to his show a few times. He is now a total shill for the right. Only thing different he does from the other shills is, he delivers his vitrol in that smarmy, ironic, Dennis Miller voice, so some people think it's funny. To me, it's not. And since Herb likes him, I feel like I'm on the right track.

It's a lot like this HD radio thing.

Dennis delivers the perception of funny, without actually being that funny!

HD radio delivers the perception of high definition audio, without actually being high definition!

Agreed with Warner. Shill.

I cannot listen to Dennis Miller for humor anymore. I haven't been able to for quite a while. I'm not trying to couch or backpedal on liking his show - but I want to say that his mind works in a way that I admire: Analytical and truly intellectually honest. I don't get the feeling he would say things just to get a reaction. Which is something that I am loaded for bear about and as soon as I hear it from another host, they go on the list. Grrr.

At least Dennis shows that he has given it as much thought as a person could. He acknowledeges the opposing angles, gives them their worth in credibility, but explains - in detail - why he disagrees.

What more could you ask for?

And Herb posted on the other side of this board that liberals won't like his show. I'm not posting this to prove him wrong. Heck, I expected to NOT like his show.

I was wrong.

And that's good.

The guy's strong on fighting terror and he's funny.

Unless one is a terrorist or French, Miller is a good guy.

Dennis Miller is kind of like the Al Franken of the Right, only less informed. Franken wasn't really funny on his show most of the time, and when he was just TALKING, his show was kind of dull. But Franken had fantastic, intelligent guests. He didn't make his show entirely about commentary. I don't listen to Miller but I've heard his comments excerpted many times and I think I get the idea.

I turned on Miller's show on one of the first days just in time to hear him explain(un-funnily)how he doesn't believe in global warming.

I then turned it off again.

he was funny on SNL doing the news... heck, if he did the news on the radio he might still be funny.

I heard his interview on Emerson... also not funny(either side.. I think Rick was afraid to make fun of him).

I actually fought with it, this time around. Having mangled it totally, enough times to matter, it was cut 'n paste, dodge with an alternative, "Ed", go for it and not worry, or not post!

I typed it, checked it twice. Maybe it's for my greater good!

Sorry man. Really.

And I apologize for the klunky name. Like your comments about being "stuck" with Missing_kskd, I would have chosen something that rolled off the keyboard a little easier had I imagined I would end up posting as much as I have.

BTW, Suburban Chevrolet in Sandy Spring Cruise-in tomorrow from 9-4. I live only a couple miles away, and will try to bring my '60 Comet down for part of the day. (The Edsel is being prepped for some big road trips this summer, so not on the road right now)

Enjoy the Cruise in.

I think this kind of thing happens more than we think. Elsewhere on the Internets (I love that Bushism), I'm known as potatohead. Got used to it and often register it now.

Everybody always asks about that one. It's some good humor, then we settle down and do our thing, largely ignoring the handles.

For me, it's evolved into some kind of morbid exercise, forcing me to carry myself well. With a handle like potatohead, it's gotta be solid, or it all goes downhill quickly! Missing_Kskd is not anywhere near as bad --at least it's radio themed and relevant in that I do really miss the station!

Herb said very ignorantly>>>>
Unless one is a terrorist or French, Miller is a good guy.

Unless one is a neo-CON bent on destroying America from the inside out or EXTREME REICH wing, Miller is funny.
