You mean KBOO isn't doing hip-hop at 7 p.m. weeknights anymore? I haven't listened for a while, but that seems unlikely. Maybe it's pre-empted for pledge drive.

I haven't listened in awhile either, but yes, they used to have R&B/hip hop M-F at 7:00 p.m., but also they had a few late night shows too I believe.....

Unless they felt it no longer served their mission - their mission is to present material not covered elsewhere locally....

According to the schedule, it's a hip-hop/soul/reggae wheel at 7p. What are you hearing instead?

Hmmm. When you go to KBOO's schedule, and click on some of the shows, it always says "this program has no djs". That's kind of odd.

KBOO does some really cool music but they are WAY SLOW to change.

A part of their mission is to serve communities (of people) that would not otherwise be served by radio.

well the mexican music in PM drive made sense years ago but now that the market has several flavors of hispanic radio how come they still have this show every single day??

same with hip hop. cool show but now hip hop is commercially successfull and that niche is being served in the market so their mission statement no longer applies to this gener either.

I think KBOO would be better if they put the block programming on weekends.

Then during the week if they still played all the same variety of music but mixed it all together,,, much like the mid day programming on Jefferson Public Radio. A free form variety of world, folk, jazz, etc.

I think the various dj's who do the specific shows get entrenched and refuse to move on when the market changes.

Dodger:

If I understand your 12:05 post, the jist is "he said something offensive, so I can too."

Yeah, dj's posts are racially charged and offensive. But he appears to be so completely out of it (or a put on) that he doesn't warrant comment.

You were being held to a higher standard. My apology for overestimating your social maturity.

"Social Maturity"? Pray tell us what that means?
Where does Howard Stern fall in that? Rush Limbaugh? Mark and Brian?
So if I tell fart jokes instead does that show more "social maturity"?
How about the 20 or so trips to Third World nations made in relief efforts and medical care? Would that be "social maturity"? And if so, have you reached that yet?
I really think you should define "social maturity". I am sure there are many "socially immature" persons here who need to be enlightened. Really. Cmon. Help us.

A quick goggle of the phrase should give you all the articles you need. This is one of the better ones:

I don't goggle either by the way, except when it is snowing.

Dodger: as near as I can tell, you were offended by DJF using certain words in the context of *supporting people who are discouraging their use*.

Please explain how this is offensive, or how my impression is incorrect.

Further: please explain how someone offending you gives you the right to be offensive in return. This is toddler-level ethics. Or, as my mom always told me, "two wrongs don't make a right".

... "two wrongs don't make a right".

no, but three lefts do!

And if you want to consider this, Two Wongs can make another Wong, as long as one is a Mr. and the other a Mrs. Of course the same goes for a Wright. Yet Orville and Wilbur were two Wrights and all they could make was an airplane. So two rights don't necessarily make another Wright.

This thread wasn't worth the pissing match that it has dissolved into.

FRRRREEEEESSSH? Do you ever discuss a thread you start or just start them for laffs?

Now, Life is indeed like a box of chocolates.

In my case, someone ate all the good ones and left behind the cocoanut ones with a bite out of them!

In fact along those same lines, a few years back I wrote a promo for another Z100 and had a friend of mind produce it. For all you Z100 fanZ if you want to hear it e mail me and I send it to you.
