This is upsetting, thought I should pass it along. Check your drivers license... Now you can see anyone's Driver's License on the Internet, including your own! I just searched for mine and there it was...picture and all! Thanks Homeland Security! Privacy, where is our right to it? I definitely removed mine, I suggest you all do the same..... Go to the web site and check it out. Just enter your Name, City and State to see if yours is on file. After your license comes on the screen, click the box marked "Please Remove". This will remove it from public viewing, but not from law enforcement. http://www.license.shorturl.com/

Parady aside, this type of information will be available to a lot of people, as the new immigration rules go into affect.

Somebody just HAD to come in here and take a dump on a perfectly good thread. P.S. It's spelt "parody" and "effect".

Mrs. M. I think it is "parroting" and the "effect" is a cloud of feathers and gobs on a newspaper. That's why they call them "crackers" isn't it? Pick your nose on any corner downtown and there are a dozen or more folks enjoying watching you mine on television. Privacy? No. It's like taking a leak center court in the Rose Garden. We just gotta get used to it. Another favorite thing overheard working at a bar: "So whut you do is go in and get yer renewal picture taken while yer drunk. That way you look the same when they pull you over. That'd work man."

A certain stoner friend of mine went around back of the DMV and burned one before he had his drivers license picture taken - same logic applies.

> Parady aside, this type of information will be > available to a lot of people, as the new > immigration rules go into affect. Now that it's obvious to anyone who reads through this thread that the Driver's License lookup site is a joke, I will admit that they had me going until I saw the picture. My first reaction at the "official" looking site that prompts you to enter whose license you want to see was, "oh my goodness, why was a website like this put together?? This is a big mistake!" The part that should not be believable is that these types of records would just be available to any anonymous person who goes onto a website. If there really were a way for anyone to get a high resolution image of a driver's license, counterfeiting of driver's licenses would skyrocket! Identity theft would go to an all time high! However, the fear of losing one's privacy or having one's identity stolen is so great that logic goes out the window and therefore, the gag works. Another thing that made me breathe a sigh of relief is that many of the GPS mobile phone tracking websites are also spoofs. It is possible to track GPS-enabled phones, and there are legitimate services that can allow you to do this. However, in order to do it, you have to load special software onto the phone that causes it to transmit its GPS coordinates on a regular basis. The websites that claim to be able to track any GPS enabled mobile phone simply by entering the phone numbers are gags. See: http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,114721-page,1/article.html

Once the immigration plans are in place, not everyone will be able to see the info just a lot of people. Anyone that is involved in hiring etc. I am all for the new laws. Anytime a GPS enabled phone transmits, it transmits its location, only the network administrators can see the data, and anyone that can hack into the site. But it is possible if someone can get a hold of your phone for a few minutes, to put software on it , that will let them track you. A lot of stalkers are ex spouses/boyfriendsgirlfriends. so if you leave a relationship, its a good idea to have your phone checked out, and your computer.
