"Many of the great Country songs from the '50s were written either during, or the morning after, a night of heavy drinking." Now you can hear "84 tracks on this 3-disc collection which represents some of the best country music the '50s has to offer."

The artists must be awfully proud to be on this album:

My mother used to sing a song "I got tears in my ears from lying on my back and crying over you." I can't find that song. I wonder if it was played on the radio where she was locally and didn't go national.

I'm pretty sure that was a national hit - a friend of mine's mother used to sing that one too.

I'VE GOT TEARS IN MY EARS
(FROM LYIN' ON MY BACK IN MY BED WHILE I CRY OVER YOU)
Written by Harold Barlow
Recorded by Homer & Jethro

I've got tears in my ears from lyin' on my back
In my bed while I cry over you
And the tears in my ears, they're off the
beaten track
Since you said "It's goodbye, we are through"
So if I should get water on the brain
You will know you're the one who is to blame
I've got tears in my ears from lyin' on my back
In my bed while I cry over you.

I've got tears in my ears from lyin'on my back
In my bed while I cry over you
I've been cryin' these tears and soakin' in my
sack
Since the day I found you were untrue
And if I don't get up pretty soon
I'll turn into a sleepy lagoon
I've got tears in my ears from lyin' on my back
In my bed while I cry over you.

I've got tears in my ears from lyin' on my back
In my bed while I cry over you
It's been so many years, my sacroiliac
Feels as though it's been soaked through and
through
Oh, you lied when you said we'd take the plunge
Now I know how it feels to be a sponge
I've got tears in my ears from lyin' on my back
In my bed while I cry over you.

"I've Got Tears In My Ears" by Homer & Jethro did not chart on Billboard's Country chart.

The single was issued in January 1950 on RCA Victor (78rpm) 21-0162 & (45rpm) 48-0170. The flip side was "She Made Toothpicks of The Timber of My Heart".

Did you read the title of this thread? it's about county, not country... is there a good multnomah county song about gang violence and strip clubs? I'm sure it's hot on Jammin! Djfrresh should know that one!

"County roads, take me home, to the place I belong, East Multnomah, mountain mama, take me home, county roads..."

I gotta admit, it does have a ring to it. We gotta let Troutdale know about this, it could really help tourism. I can see the video now...
