Ahhh...the media is a little less liberal. How refreshing. It's like a gentle breeze up my kilt.

But...what if his replacement is Ted Kennedy? Aargh! Curse you, liberal media!!

It's sort of interesting that the politicians that flocked to Imus for publicity over the years were the first ones that turned on him when they saw opportunity to further their own causes by doing so.

Must make you proud to be a Democrat.

Any average politician would turn on someone rich, famous and troubled if it meant furthering their career. Republican, Democrat or what-have-you.

They should have totally and publically supported his statements - even though he apologized. Those Democrats should have taken over his show and just called people all kinds of names.

That would have been better. That would have been smarter. Because loyalty knows no bounds. Support those who have supported you no matter if the put babies on spikes. Hey, Imus gave you airtime, you owe him. In fact, you should HELP him further HIS positions.

Yeah. That's what should have been done. Because as we can see right now in other areas, that really works to stand by someone even though you disagree with them or they are doing things that are obviously bad ideas. But screw that. You OWE him.

Fun.

Republicans, on the other hand, will reach out and embrace a fellow-Republican when they're in trouble, and then apologize and seek help. Just ask Mark Foley.

Oh totally. Because we, you know, are weak. Our liberal media empire is crumbling before our very eyes. God forbid we actually show tangible dissent. Only America haters do that. People who LOVE America NEVER change their minds or can ever see something is wrong. Taking a stand against something you disagree with is hand-wringing and lily-livered. SPINELESS!

Loyalty at ALL costs. Even if it KILLS you. Heck, ESPECIALLY if it kills you. THAT'S what's at stake here. Want to change something for the better? Too bad - you can't. Because you once said something else - you can't change your mind and have it really count. You get to state your position once and that's it.

Don't be such a faggot. Go with your gut you pussy.

(tempted to link to ham-fisting for shock factor, thinks better about it...)

IMHO, it's always good to nail a left leaning soap box. I'm serious on this. We've heard far worse outta just about all the major blowhards that lean right and what happens?

Nothing, or a lawsuit when their audio is actually played back to their sponsors!

(google Spocko for that interesting fair use case going on right now.)

I can truly relate to what Imus is going through.

After being fired for saying the word "uterus" on the air I was picketed by gynecologists in front of my house for weeks. Pregnant women would see me in stores and scowl. They would make remarks of how sexist I was to even bring up such a word that is only to be spoken to other women and not broadcast to innocent ears that just might happen to ask "what's a uterus?"

Yes I was enemy number one during those weeks and months. It thoroughly disrupted my sex life with my wife and our kids were ridiculed at church and school. I needed hours of counseling. I had thoughts of actually getting a real job and leaving radio. It was a low point. But then….I got to do voice tracking and things have been great ever since.

Chris, I sense that you have a level of humility that would make such an experience troubling and difficult. I don't think Imus has an issue with humility.

I am a high school teacher and the words we use in the classroom are also very, very important. I've had a slip-up or two in my career that rattled some parents and almost got me in hot water, though I thought the words I used were edgy rather than offensive. It's hard to be punished by the world for offensive acts when no offense was intended. (and I don't think Imus meant to offend either - his racism/sexism is simply ingrained)

I was fired for using the word uterus-that is true.

Everything else I wrote was for entertainment. Wasn't trying to make a point by any means. And isn't that the point?

It was the "protesting gynecologists" that tipped me off. But it was entertaining, nonetheless.

Really Edselehr? So thats ok that Imus is sexist and a racist? So because he has been doing it for so long thats Ok?? This is not the first time Imus has made racist remarks to black people, I remember listening to him a few years back and thinking "oh My god" i can't believe he just said that about black people. If he's not a racist than he should stop acting like one on the radio! I'm honestly surprised that none of the black community has gone after him and put a cap in his ass. He should be worried about his safety, now that his radio career has gone down the toilet.

Which part of Mr Imus's comments were racist?
How is refering to a physical attribute of someone racist? He could have said curly headed.
He was comparing 2 teams both of which are predominatly black, and one team was much tougher looking, and he commented on that.

And I doubt if his radio carrer is over.
Maybe some white people should go after black artists that make comments about whites, would you be ok with that?

Or black people go after other black people that make deregotary comments about blacks.

I have never liked Imus, he smacks his gum, I liked the way Singapore treats gum chewere.

Something about all of this feels disproportionate enough to make it all feel like this event doesn't bring us closer together. You know? It feels like there is a bigger wedge here now that Sharpton and Jackson got involved and what they did and called for.

I could be convinced to change my view of it. But something feels off about all of this.

Hell no, it's not OK. It's like the difference between murder and manslaughter, the first is intentional, the second is not. But even the person guilty of manslaughter is responsible for his/her actions.
