This is sad! All because the Port can make more money by getting rid of KGY's unique Budd Inlet Piling Studios. The Seattle P.I.: |

I worked at KGY for nearly 2 years in the early 70's. The control room was fabulous! Oh sure we had the same crappy equipment every small radio station had at the time, but the view was out of this world. The control room sat over the bay with the Olympic Mountains in the backdrop. During the summer when the tide was in, boaters would float up to the deck and request songs! Not Bad! Dick Pust was the morning guy then, and still is, who says there's no job security in radio. He's also one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Sad day when KGY has to pull up anchor and move from Olympia's waterfront! |

The studios were great in their day. But, the last time I stopped by, to drop off a dub, I could see the place was rotting, literally. The floor had holes in it, and the place was just worn out from the elements. |
