This morning, I heard a song by Destiny's Child playing on K103. Would anybody care to speculate why K103 is starting to incorporate R&B into its playlist?

- "this moring i herd destiny child on k103 whats up with that k103 play rb music now" - "This morning, I heard a song by Destiny's Child playing on K103. Would anybody care to speculate why K103 is starting to incorporate R&B into its playlist?" Actually, me being serious now (albeit a somewhat loose description), I am also starting to wonder myself if 103 isn't planning on flipping its format? A couple days ago (Saturday, 10:45AM) heard Prince's thing about partying like it's 1999. On 103, yes. Never mind how out of date that song's subject matter is now!! ;o) And just last night Lou Vega's "Mambo Number Five" played at around 6:45 or so. A while ago today heard "Me Myself and I" by our friend Beyonce Knowles, herself. Could be just my imagination runnin' away with me (hint hint) but I am starting to notice a trend here, slightly reminiscent of how 97.1 (KISN) approached its format switch prior to becoming Charlie's. I am starting to wonder if 103 is using a similar "ease-into" strategy before making a complete format/subject flip?? Stay tuned.......................

The AC format is simply evolving to stay within the 25-54 demo.

Destiny's Child is about as mainstream as the Supremes were in the 60s.

K103 will be changing formats, the writing is on the wall. Rumor has it Michael Hayes is coming back to portland to take over k103 and will be cleaning house including all the airstaff. You heard it here first.

ACs evolve. That's what they do. Today's 35-54s have different tastes than those from 20 years ago. Don't expect a top ratings and sales performer like K103 to do anything more than evolve.

beano has a sick fascination with michael hayes. probably a disgruntled fomer coworker, like kurtis. k103 has been sounding more and more contemporary lately.

The older you get, the more contemporary it will sound. There are probably people in town who think Sunny sounds contemporary.

what is sunny? Sunny is a song by Bobby Hebb from 1966. It got to #2 and spent 15 weeks on the charts. It frequently appeared on stations that operated under an extinct format known as "oldies". You might still be able to hear it on small am stations that carry a sattelite broadcast style of non local origin known as Music of your Life, or the greatest hits of all time. The follow up made it to #39, I can give you the title if you like, but it won't do you any good as you will never hear it..... Sunny, Thank you for the smile upon my face... I'm here to help.

The Dude: Sunny was what the most noticeable climatic condidtion was last Thursday/Friday, which is why I was out riding most of the time those days. ;o) Oh, wait.......do you mean KISN's former sister station on 910 and later 1520, with the nostalgia format??

Very true but I was thinking of the former 910/1520/1010 format that is being used again on 1550. By the way, I've heard the song in question on K-Hits and it may still be aired occasionally on K103.
