I'd vote for Clint Eastwood. Can you just picture negotiations with China....."Go ahead Punk...make my Day" all while the background music from The Good the Bad and the Ugly plays! "This is a "44" Magaton, the most powerful nuke in the World, I don't remember if I loaded 5 or 6 in the tubes so you gotta ask yourself...do you feel lucky....well do ya Punk!"

Sylvester Stallone and Arnold are apparently very popular in Iran. Maybe Clint falls into that category too...but it would be interesting if we had a president who was, say, wildly loved in Iran. What if President Stallone said, "Yo, Iranians, you need to overthrow your government!" What are the chances that could end our difficulties with Iran overnight? Meanwhile, Vice President Jerry Lewis could go over to France and get them to give up cheese. Andrew

George Carlin. Can you imagine? The entertainment value alone would be worth the morbid result! And the zingers he would unload on basically everybody... If we are gonna go for the fantasy bit, this would at least be great fun, if a bit twisted in terms of policy.

Average_Joe, I agree, because in reality, the government is a business. It takes in money and spends that money. A good honest businessman would (should) make a good president. In my opinion, there should be NO SUCH THING as a career politician. 2 terms and you are out. No matter what position you are in from local City Council members to the President. 2 terms then out. No exceptions.

Assuming the two Lebowskis are related, that cant happen, there is a lwa against a President appointing a close relative as a cabinet officer. Which is why Bill Clinton couldnt appoint Hillary as the Attorney General. The law was passed after Robert Kennedy served as AG.

Not you Trix......... My Trash N' Bash™ was intended as a counterattack (more like a "get back what thou giveth") for just those certain others 'round here who seemingly like to keep noise levels high while keeping overall signal throughput levels rather low!! ;o) (Do you or have you, per chance, work/ed with audio hardware??) I do apologise Trix--didn't mean harm, not to you anyways.......... I shoulda paid more attention to how close I was cutting before pasting. 11:45AM, on a Sabado (without coffee at that) is still like the middle of the night for me............ (Should have dropped the bit about ".......from you it's no facts. No evidence blah blah blah.") Rule of thumb: NEVER post in a discussion forum a half-hour after you wake up!! Obviously it can have unintended consequences. (That, and I think I really do need to avoid going to Mc Menamin's for a good while. Damn Terminator!!)

I think this should be in 3 catagories, historical Americans. in that catagory I nominate Ben franklin with Robert E. Lee as VP. then current or recently deceased, say in last 20 years. I nominate Blackman and Robin, IE General Chappie James, first black 4 star, and Bgen Robin Olds. When Olds was commander and James vice commander of 8th TFW, they were calleed "Blackman and Robin". Lastly current folks that could actually be elected. I nominate Gen Norman Schwattzkopf(sp) and Pat Schroeder,

Trix: We're cool then??? What I wonder is this: Radio Info has a board called "Take It Outside" where users can basically sling mud, flame and generally argue to their heart's content. I wonder why Dan doesn't start a board like that here? Considering some of the arguments several un-named users have gotten into in this side of the forum especially, I have noticed!! *Thinks above statements over very carefully* Ignore that above--it was a dumb suggestion. From what I have noticed a dedicated forum for that could get incredibly ugly incredibly quick!! Back on topic, my ballot: Prez: Ricky Carmichael (Fox #4/Fox F.I.M. #1) Vice Prez: Tony Hawk Speaker: Dave Mirra Secretary: Sarah Whitmore (THQ #192, I think...) Senator: Travis Pastriana Supreme Court Justice: Robert "Bucky" Lassek

We've had a coupla thread like that. Trixter and Mc, went at it once. It was great fun actually. (Think it was Mc...) I've frequented places like that and have these observations: -if it's an open forum venue, (as in the two major post aggragators we have here) the noise ratio is pretty high, and stuff bleeds into all areas, (This is generally bad. The forum culture can mitigate this, but.... it still has a high bad potential.) -if one is promoting quality discussion (as is done here), having a venue like that is counter productive, -if the place to do this is by request only, and not public, the results are really great. -these kinds of things work best in a no-holds barred kind of scenario. Absolutely nothing is off the table, but it what happens there stays there. (by request provides the administrator the ability to inform those making their requests of this condition. This can be backed by a fairly harsh rule that applies to public posts) Personally, I'm against this. I do favor it for religion and politics though, depending on the forum focus. A well known classic gaming forum does this (by request only) and the results are fantastic. People getting into that stuff are made aware of the by request venue, then tend to keep it off the greater forum. See AtariAge for an excellent example of this in action. Wonderful community in general. There are alternatives! If people are interested, there is IRC chat, and other chat systems that serve this purpose nicely. When venting, it's not a bad idea to not archive the posts! People need to get it out, and it needs to stay out. My .02

"Trixter and Mc, went at it once. It was great fun actually. (Think it was Mc...)" I remember well that one..........I was still a "sub-lurker" when that happened. (Between A_Zone and Motozak stints.) Internet Movie Database (at least last time I used it, circa mid-2006) had *two* dedicated forums for this. "The Sandbox", a "free-form" forum where users could post off-topic stuff, test messages, and it did get quite political at times, and "The Soapbox" which was like the Sandbox but *way* uglier. Just FYI, I rarely used the former and practically never used the latter!!

I vaguely remember Usenet--used to get quite a kick out of news://rec.collecting.8-track-tapes back in my tape heyday. (It was before 2004, when I finally bought my CD recorder.) Don't remember the .advocacy area tho.....wasn't really paying too much attention to politics and civil rights back then, at least not while I was still doing the Usenet thing at Egreen. "Muzak Cowboy" used to irritate other Eighttrackers regularly with his odd "Words Of Wisdom". O my God, those were the days. (Are there even any Usenet things operating any more??) But then, there was also MaugNet....................................
