Lonnie Whelchel (Best DJ),
Not sure what the future holds for me at this time, but I'm working on some possibilities. Why don't you apply there? I'm sure Mr. Chavez and Ms. Kilmer would love to talk to you. Their phone number is (541) 269-0935. Use the above e-mail address if you'd like. Good luck. And, don't say I never did anything for you.

Lonnie doesn't need that radio job Bill. According to him: "After years in the biz I now do it via the internet. live and no body can tell me what to do or how to do it.studio is in the spare bedroom. its great. no over head and I sell about 30 clients to keep the revenue coming in" Unless he's full of crap...as usual.

I agree with radiogiant, you have a great style Bill, and I know you're a consummate radio pro.
Maybe NC 93 will put you on fulltime. You deserve it.

When I was in Bandon last May, Wolfman Jack had risen from the dead and was doing an evening show on k-dock. I wonder if he died again. Hmmm...

Then again, KHJA (102/KHJ, Madras) runs "Live From the 60s" with The Real Don Steele so perhaps resurrection isn't so uncommon.

102 KHJ is Boss radio. It sounds very good. It's for sale if anyone is interested.

I know all about 102/KHJ. They do sound very good. It was just strange to hear The Real Don Steele on the air almost ten years after he left us (it was the syndicated show for Premiere that he did in the 80's.)
I wish that could afford to stream on line, but last they told me in an email it was not financially feasible. :-( I also hope that if it is indeed sold the new owner will keep the station as it is now.

Wolfman Jack's show is doing quite well in syndication. 2 hours/weekday, cobbled together from his widow's huge collection of tapes that Wolfman kept. And he kept a lot.

Haven't heard lately, but the ratings a year ago were very good here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where it is aired 10-noon weekdays. The weekend re-runs didn't do so well, and have been reduced to 5 hours on Sunday afternoons.

As I understand it, the show just (in the last week) picked up a syndication-wide sponsor -- the guys who do TV infomercials for a DVD series of highlights from The Midnight Special (announcer was Wolfman).

I listen quite a bit, and very occasionally hear an XERB jingle, which is a nice touch. Material being used dates from the night before his death all the way back to '60s XERB. The edits aren't always perfect, nor is the digital remastering, but still fun listening. At least they fixed up the "re-sings" problem from the original demo they sent out to stations to try and sell it. In the demo, "Help Me Rhonda" and a few other songs were not the original hit versions. Haven't caught them making that mistake in any of the shows that have been aired.

The syndication is being done by a 4 station group in Orange County, California, with Lou Lamb Smith's (Wolfman's widow) cooperation.

Help Me Ronda(no "h")was probably from the Today album and predated the single(with "h").

Isn't 102/KHJ an LPFM? I thought those license
weren't sellable or transferrable.

Maybe I heard wrong.

BTW, KDCQ now has a live, local morning show, Evan O. I wish him well. It felt a little awkward listening to him this morning after I did that show for six years. But, things are going all right with me. I don't have anything yet, but it isn't because of lack of trying. Something good will come through for me. The support is much appreciated.

KHJ is still for sale. Great "Boss" format. If interested in a very good LPFM give Ron a call.
