Evidently the new Dennis Miller radio show (Westwood One) can be heard starting 3/26/07 on AM 970, 8 AM till Emerson (11). Any takes on how this is going to pan out?

That sucks! I liked having the option to listen to Stephanie Miller 8-11 although I usually listen to KPOJ during that time. I won't be listening to the new Miller. Andrew

No doubt, if KPOJ put the Stephanie Miller show on, it would be delayed, probably 9-midnight or something. Her show is a little too racy for the KPOJ crowd I think, though. (I mean, it's often funny but it's too off topic - in to entertainment news and such - to be quite as relevant to what KPOJ seems to want to be). Andrew

Interesting. I still remember when he was on SNL. funny stuff! I believe Dennis will fit right in. Am 970 is a good , all around station. I like Rick Emersons show, Leykis, and the news bits Tim Ryan does on " Sold state radio".

Dennis Miller was hilarious on SNL and in some of his earlier standup, but I think his comedy has changed. Andrew

Miller should be a good addition even though he's more conservative than both Emerson and Leykis. I think Eugenebob means Tim Riley news, not Tim Ryan. They are two different people. I believe Ryan is a jock on KUPL.

I believe Tim Ryan records a "news" (okay, bordering-on-slanderous opinion) spot called "70 seconds of your life that you will never get back" (something like that) that gets played at any given time of the day on 970 AM. Not to be confused with Tim Riley. Or Tim Savage, whom also appeared on 970 AM with his weekend show called "The Timnamsium" (now defunct).

Stephanie Miller is staying on 970. 6-8am. Tim Ryan does an entertainment-based segment that rotates daily on 970.

Yes, there are ( or were) a lot of tim's on there. No, I mean tim ryan, or " timmy" as he calls himself- I can't believe what he says sometimes, in a good way . He reminds me of a guy I hired back in the 70's named bobby carmine. It's refreshing to hear a current pop culture segment that is not the standard, prep sheeted " showbiz buzz". tim RILEY is a funny, funny man. I thought tim savages show was okay. it had it's moments. wht's up with all the guys named "tim" on there anyways?

Well, it's better than the '60s when you'd end up having to change your on-air name because there was already a person with the same first name at the station or at the competition. But it did lead to interesting things, like Robin Mitchell coming to KOL Seattle the first time, after being JJ in Oregon, because there was already a JJ in town, and the PD thought Robin was a great alternative. I rather liked the KMBY Monterey solution. Jazz up the existing name. Bob Morgan became Robert W. and Bob Smith became Robert O.

"Dennis Miller was hilarious on SNL and in some of his earlier standup, but I think his comedy has changed." Yeah, now his humour is fair and balanced. This ought to drive the left crazy. Especially whilst he replaces a raging leftist in that time slot. Herb

Well let's see here. He had Rudy Guliani on today, gushed all over him, stated that he was voting for him and believed he would lead our country onward. Then he backhanded John Edwards for staying in the Presidential race when his wife has cancer. So, yeah Herb, you'll probably love this show. I enjoyed his interview with Dana Carvey. Other than that, not much else. Not sure why we replaced a funny show that pokes fun at most everyone, albeit mostly the right, with yet another non-funny, right-wing show. He already did this schtick on cable, unsuccessfully.

"Not sure why we replaced a funny show that pokes fun at most everyone, ALBEIT MOSTLY THE RIGHT, with yet another non-funny, right-wing show." Gee, I don't know. Could it be that, as with the demise of Air America, most listeners simply don't agree with your leftist take? And that most listeners don't think left-wing radio is worth listening to? Naaawwwwwwww. Just in the office where I work, lots of people have commented on the Stephanie Miller show. Will they do the same for Dennis? Oh, by the way, Air America is still there. "Demise" would mean it was gone. Bottom line from what I heard on Dennis Miller; it was neither funny, or different. I'll try again a few times to check progress.

I'm at a loss as to why in a liberal market like Portland the radio spoken word format is so overwhelmingly "Right Wing". With Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, Ingram and our own local jerk Larson it bugs the hell out of me that when we do get someone on who is to the left of Attilla the Hun the geniuses in charge of the stations pull their shows to air another Right Wing nitwit. I guess my only alternitive is the Internet and Serius.

Yes I do listen to AAR and NPR but I also liked the ability to tune into another station in this market. Hartmann doesn't really appeal to me personally even though I agree with him on most issues when it comes to politics and Stephany Miller gave me a break from AAR in that morning time period.

Actually, I enjoyed Stephanie Miller because she poked fun, and was funny. Right or left, she is just funny. To me that is. I tried Dennis Miller again. He had a some guy on discussing (of course) Al Gore. He said (for the thousandth time) that Gore said he "invented the Internet." No, he didn't say that. Never. Just another repeated conservative untruth. So, I changed the station. Again I ask, why run another unfunny right-wing show?

Listened Tuesday...not bad! He seems to be somewhat metro-political, not a huge lean either way, although more rightie than leftie. And funny...had Dana Carvey on again and was such a nice change from Rush, etc. It was also fun hearing him read live commercials! Welcome to radio, Dennis!

I'm looking for a talk show host who is not a an extreme ideologue like thom Hartmann. Al Gore said "I took the initiative in creating the Internet". Miller was right about Al Gore saying he invented the Internet.

George W. Bush said he wanted OB-GYNs to be able to "practice their love" with women in America. That of course could only mean one thing: that George Bush thinks OB-GYNs should have sex with their patients. I think it's disgusting that our President would hold such beliefs - how could you have ever supported him, DD? Andrew
