Dick Cheney made the cover of "Time Magazine" this week (March 19, 2007). It shows him under a dark cloud with the following:

THE VERDICT ON CHENEY

"Libby was convicted, but it's the Vice President who is under a cloud. Cheney's take-no-prisoners style has made him one of Bush's biggest liabilities."

Question: Will Cheney make it through the year?

Bush doesn't care about liabilities, haven't you noticed? Cheney will be there until 1/20/09, unless he drops dead before that.

Cheney's entrenched, probably more so than Dubya. The puppet is useless without the puppetmaster. I think it would be hilarious to see Bush disappear and put Cheney in the limelight for the last year of this administration. Heck, he's got so much power as is it wouldn't make much of a difference in policy. It would just put the leadership structure in line with the decision making structure. The first time the face of this White House is also the real leader.

I envison Cheney resigning for "health reasons" so the GOP will have one last attempt to groom a replacement for Bush. Rice maybe? Guliani anyone?

No way will Cheney be ousted. They won't even fight to keep him - they'll just ignore and stonewall and continute to do whatever the fuck they want.

I'd much rather see Cheney outed...maybe it solve some his anger issues.

Come out of the closet, Dick, you know you want to.

He needs a nice, long session with Suki the Ball Buster. The two for one, pancake special, with extra syrup!

I'll gladly contribute my tax dollars for the man juice afterword.

Na, worst administration is US grant.
Current administration, in 20 years, will be rated low top 10, high 20.

No doubt the Bush II administration in 20 years will be rated top 10 but probably in the categories you imagine...

Don't you think with Cheney pulling down an already low rated Bush Administration, they could recoup some points in public opinion, if Cheney was cut? I can't believe Bush will continue to take the heat for him.

There is no way Cheney will go anywhere. Heck, he has flat out stated the Vice does not answer to anybody --including the President.

It's his bunker, he's dug in and doing all he can.

So what is the law in regards to a succession ie resignation or death of a vice president? Does the president have the option of appointing a replacement? Or does the order of succession only apply to the president?

The president appoints a new VP, that has to be approved by both the House and Senate, until that vote the Speaker is next in line.

And hes right he doesnt answer to anyone, the office of the vice President is constitutionally protected. The President can remove some of the duties he has given the VP, his obly constitutional duties are to preside over he Senate.
