Adventure Radio flipped oldies WGCO-FM/Savannah, Ga., to ABC's satellite-delivered "Jack-FM" adult hits format in October 2005, but today at 2 p.m. the station flipped back to oldies under its former nickname of "Oldies 98.3." Chuck "Boom Boom" Cannon returns to the station in his former position as PD/morning host. Core artists for the revived Oldies 98.3 include the Beatles, the Supremes, Elton John and the Spinners.

"We've been dealing with the outpouring from the community for the past year and a half," said WGCO OM Susan Groves. "We knew that Oldies 98.3 was a well-loved heritage station, but we underestimated how much the Savannah and Hilton Head, S.C., audience truly wanted this station."

Don't look for KISN to be revived. It is a dead issue because it is not in the prime demo. Entercom has some "average" management making descions in the Bancroft Building. As long as the bottom line shows improvement, David Field percieves that things are fine.

Savannah's population probably skews considerably older than the Portland area. This is probably an aberration. Much as I would like to see it, I don't think 97.1 is ever going back to oldies, even if (when) the Charlie format finally tanks.

Here's some hope for KISN listeners: When K-Hits goes to HD, it appears they will put 60s Oldies on their HD2. At least that's what it says on the Ibiquity website.

From what I understand, it probably won't be for a while.

I understand the Scott Tom, the former PD of KISN, went to Salem Comm., the new owners of 910, and pleaded with them to keep the oldies format. Well, they, of course, said no. The programming of KTRO on the AM is a waste of a legendary frequency. Its just another out-of-town corporate decision that did not take into consideration the local market place.

I liked the post better in the original yellow. The green tried to improve on it but as everyone knows, the original's still the greatest! :-)

Wow! 60s oldies on HD2! What a great idea. HD radios will be flying off the shelves with this news.

What is the big deal putting 60's hits on HD2. They are playing it already on their main channel. Doesn't KHITS play from the 60's and 70's?

What this town needs is someone playing hits of the 50's. Only KISN did. Now, everything is played in this town except 50's. The stuff before the 50's is played on 1550 and KBPS. Everyone else is covering 50's plus..... more than one in some cases.

Hey, the KISN-AM streaming site is still up, but it obviously doesn't work:

BUT...click on the "Loyal Listener Club" button for a suprising flashback.

The Internet forgets nothing...

There are 9 HD2 channels on the air with 5 more coming soon. I only mentioned the 60s format because it applies to this thread. There is plenty that would interest a younger listener with more on the way.

I've been listening to WEUS online from Orlando. So far, they seem to have a large playlist running 50's -70's. Does not have live DJ's but they cover the music. http://www.big810.com/

With K-Hits 106-7 playing 60's and 70's, their HD2 stream could debut with 50's and early 60's.

They would need to be HD first.
