I have been a bit busy with some family matters. Took some time to catch up! Oh man, the shit is hitting the fan, and we are only a few months in!

I love this, from the Donald!

"Well, I think Bush is probably the worst president in the history of the United States. […] Everything is a lie."

And then we have these:

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/03/16/gonzales-implicated-in-another-scandal/

Marc Marin said he is gone Monday. That is his entry into the Sam Cedar Gonzales pool.

More on that whole drama:

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/3/16/211731/622

Which lie will they choose?

http://www.alaskareport.com/z45487.htm

Iraq failure, loan scandal (you just watch, there will be one, just like in the 80's), corporate contractors (privitization = exploitation) causing considerable consternation!

I don't expect a response. Feel free to chime in though. I was just shocked at just how piss poor the news weeks are becoming for the GOP...

No point in responding. The American public doesn't care. The worst that will happen is Gonzales will be gone, all the lies and crimes quickly forgotten, and a new Bush crony attorney general will be appointed.

The last 8-10 months of this administration is going to be one resignation after another. The rats will be jumping ship in LARGE numbers.
Only problem..... DUHbya, DICKster and Turdblossom will probably never see the inside of a jail cell.
The real DAMAGE is already done and the neo-CONers are losing ground everywhere across the country. Let's hope that some TRUE Republicans can join with the Dems and make America great once again.

So true Randy. It's bittersweet really. On one hand, maybe we can assert the Constitution properly and hold people accountable to it. If this does not happen, then the Resident will have done us a great harm.

On the other, it seems to be happening, but that effort costs us, once again, vital focus on day to day legislation that might do some real good.

Politics sucks more than we want to admit.

I don't really care if these people receive justice for any illegalities they may have perpetrated, or not (though that *would* be sweet to see!). I'm quite satisfied to sit back and watch the light being shined on this administration for really the first time in six years. I think the American people are coming out of their 9/11 stupor, along with the media, and Bush is being seen widely for the incompetent leader that he is. As long as we never get another group like this one again, I'll be satisfied.

I'm gonna go ahead and say it: "Shitty."

It's the worst ever!

I disagree with the justice bit. IMHO, not addressing this will establish that here in America, it's perfectly ok to bastardize and pervert our Democracy. The founders would be up in arms over this! I'm afraid we lack the backbone today to fully correct this mess.

It's all been brewing for a long time too. These clowns have been working really hard to establish a distinctly non-American redefinition of our government. They have managed to set some expectations on this, a lot of people buy as being valid.

We've had discussions right here that validate that. It's a very bad path going forward.

Who does Bush think he is. Clinton wanted to do the same thing in the Paula Jones case and we all know where that one went.

This is a stall by Bush so that he won't be impeached. However many Republicans seem to be lining up to dump these problems and Gonzales other wise they may be dumped in the Tsunami of the election in 2008.

Bush won't be impeached, not with less than two years left in his tenure and Dick Cheney next in line to be President. At this point the Democrats would probably end up looking as gooberish as the GOP did during the Bill Clinton impeachment, though IMHO that impeachment hearing was a witch hunt and this one is much more justified.

I can see impeachment when it becomes absolutely necessary to reign in a runaway president bent on saving his ass at all costs. I'm not exactly sure what W. will do if he gets his back against the wall. Perhaps he will start listening to Daddy Bush for once.. but the fact is I don't know what he'll do (nuke Iran?) and that's what scares me.

At least Nixon recognized his days were numbered and stepped down gracefully. (Where is Herb when you need him?)

Thanks for that intro, Edselehr.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who can remember some good things about Richard Milhous Nixon.

Be that as it may, I see that I've missed very little in the past few weeks. With all due respect, this forum continues it's obsessive whining, extraneous hand-wringing and non-stop navel gazing.

This from the group who accused Republicans of being Clinton-haters.

What makes it so humourous is that it's all over lame duck.

You guys continue to bash conservatives. It doesn't matter to me, for I've already read the same rehashed leftist talking points. And aside from the hard-core leftists, few others really care, either.

Sure. It simply gets tiresome.

Don't believe me? Re-read so many of the political threads on this board. Most are simply Trash And Bash™.

I'm gone for weeks and return only to see it's the same old.

It's a lot more constructive for all of us to light a candle than curse in the dark.

Again. Why not promote what YOUR guys actually do? If the left has so many answers, where are they? Are the potential democrat nominees so lacking that even the party loyal can't find anything or anyone to truly support?

Or are liberals so torn between their own factions that their only unifying factor is throwing punches at a guy who's going to be gone in a year and a half?

You didn't like conservatives piling on Mr. Clinton? This time, examine yourselves.

Promote what our guys do?

Sure.

Sadly, much of it involves cleaning up the GOP mess. While that's going on, we've got plenty of legislating to do, but for one little problem...

That same GOP, can't stand to actually lose face and has largely painted itself into a corner, most closely aligned with the 20 or so percent of us that lie far outside the mainstream on most all issues.

http://www.pollingreport.com Read it and weep Herb.

The position you most often identify with, on a majority of the issues, is not typical of your average American citizen. It's also rather closely aligned with that portion of the GOP causing the most trouble right now.

Sucks huh?

If democrats want to wail on Mr. Bush "like Republicans did to Mr. Clinton," then fine. You simply lose any credibility to complain when Republicans want equal payback time. And given the incessant and merciless pounding on our president, there will undoubtedly be a payback time from conservatives.

The nattering nabobs of negativism that continually attack Mr. Bush on this board also have lost any credibility to any claim of wanting a honest exchange of ideas. Try and deny it, but time after time, reading even a few threads reveals this place is little more than a haven for Bush-haters. So why even play the charade of pretending otherwise?

Well, Saddam only gassed people while Reagan and Bush sat by and let him do it. Rape and slaughter is going on all over the world now, especially in Africa. What's your plan to end it? Should we pretend those countries have WMD and go invade them, too?

Do you think the rape and slaughter of Iraqis is more important than the rape and slaughter the Bush administration never even talks about in Africa? Should they do something about it? A military action?

But if the Republicans in this country are able to look past the multitude of problems with Bush, I can see how Democrats are generally able to set aside their concerns about Hillary.

Plus, I'm really curious to see what kind of china pattern that Bill would pick out for the White House. Maybe he'd even do a live televised Jackie Kennedy-type tour for us. ("Here's the Oval Office, and here's the closet where...uh, well, moving on...")

I think she is too jaded right now. Who knows, winning might change that and she would shine. But that question being on the table will likely mean somebody else gets the win this time around.

She has come up a lot in casual discussion. I don't find many people at all that have a problem with a woman president. More have a problem with a black one... (we've a long way to go on race, it seems)

Most everybody I've talked to wants a solid president though. Past that, I don't think many care. The majority of Americans have seen enough.
