KIJZ took a significant drop in the last ratings but before that, were slowly inching forward. If they continue to drop, I wouldn't be surprised to see them change. I expect them to eventually simulcast with KEX, if they don't find a better niche before that happens but don't think it will occur for a couple of years. With consolidation, Z100 and the Buzz pretty much own their respective formats and at this point, I would be surprised to see either of them change with listeners' current mindset. It used to be that a station would change format because another station would come in and do the same or similar thing better and take away too much of the audience. That doesn't seem to happen much anymore. If someone changes format, it's often because the format or its execution is out of touch with what listeners want or was never or is no longer filling a big enough niche.

I'm thinking that KTRO might be the next station to flip, now that they have it on 910.

KJZZ is an NPR affiliate in Tempee Arizona. I don't see them changing anytime soon. Did you mean KIJZ, Dj (not so) fresh?

"Smooth Jazz" is pretty much getting its head handed to it by the "real" jazz of KMHD. Pretty sad, considering all the money dumped into it in the past year. I mean, have you seen their RV? Meanwhile, a bunch of part-time volunteers, with no working budget to speak of, are kicking their arse.

That isn't really the case. KIJZ's ratings are higher than KMHD and the former probably skews younger. It isn't even close to the same format. Smooth Jazz is mostly instrumental soft AC and primarily appeals to a different audience.

KIJZ also plays "real" jazz on their HD-2 channel, also we have decent Blues on KWJJ HD-2. I suspect that the number of HD radios in the area is still so small that these have little (or no) impact on ratings.
