This mornings Oregonian reports the passing of Bill Fetsch--known as 'Dr. Jazz' to all his loyal KMHD listeners. Bill had been doing his traditional Jazz show on KMHD for over a dozen years and also had his own band--Dr. Jazz and the Interns. Bill was always helpful to me when I was trying to run down Dixieland CD's when I needed to add one to my collection.

I agree, he was a helpful and kind man. Back in my college days, he was always there to give me advice and play me some jazz. We never got to have the lunch together we planned, I will always regret that. He will surely be missed.

Dr. Jazz's live performances featured doctor jokes. Here's one of my favorites: "The Invisible Man walks into the doctor's office. The receptionist says to him, 'I'm sorry. The doctor can't see you right now.'"
