Sad to hear...Boston was one of my favorite rock bands as a teen, and Brad's voice was one of the driving forces.

Me too. My first tape purchase was K-tel's "The Rock Album" and the best cut on it by a mile was, "More Than a Feeling." I listened to it, shuttled it back and listened to it again. I still have that tape, and I am gonna go find it right now. I think a trip through memory lane, channel drop-outs and hiss included, is just what Brad would have wanted.

Somewhere in the aether, I bet he and Paul jam on some serious blues tonight.

Why do we lose the really unique voices so early so often?

Hope they have one heck of a jam.

Incredible voice lost.....I saw them in concert in '87 and he was just as great live as he was on the albums. Definitely will be missed

Sad news, definitely. His voice and Boston will always hold a good place for me as Boston was the very first rock concert I attended as they toured to promote "Don't Look Back"...Mac Court...some guy from Redding, CA by name of Sammy Hagar opened for them.

Wow ... that sucks.

I still contend that the best show I have ever seen was Boston in 1995 at the Gorge. Incredible.

In a business filled with a-holes, Brad and the band did it right ... they didn't get all caught up in the drug scene, they used their music and message for GOOD.

This sucks.

I just wish that things didn't have to be SOOOOO perfect for Brad. They would have had more albums! When it takes 9 years to make 8 songs because you just can't get it right.....
I'm sad that he is gone! I've been waiting for something new...... FOR SO LONG!
RIP to one of rocks true good guys and perfectionists....

We've had a run of these people, lately: Shocking Blue lead singer, Denny Doherty from the Mamas & Papas, several more I can't think of right now.

It is unfortunate, but I think we are starting to see the mortality rates reverse.

The greatest generation had to walk every where to get anything when they were young.

Since the 70's everybody is driven every where. Let's honor the recent young who have died and have exercising back into the schools.

Is that okay with you Lars?

Just a short time ago I was searching for "Corporate America" and could never find it in any store. Finally had to do the "AMAZON" thing and I got it. Has some really great songs on it....none of which I ever hear on the air! WHY?

I will agree with that. If you have ever listened to or read the lyrics to "Corporate America" then I guess it's a no brainer why it does not catch any airtime!

Corporate America

Who can stop de-evolution of the human race?
Look at you, Corporate America, you're in disgrace
Globalize; cigarettes, business jets, you love it
Maximize; but you can take your bottom line and shove it

Gotta get away (gotta get away)
Gotta get away, but I need a little help tonight
What 'ya gonna say (what 'ya gonna say)
What 'ya gonna say when you never even seen the light
See the light

Corporate America, look out, look out
Corporate America, who's gonna save us, who's gonna save us now?

You and I; DVDs, SUVs and cyberspace
Flying blind, virtual reality is in our face
This Earth desecrated by the human race
Now what's it worth? When do we evacuate to outer space?

Corporate America, look out, look out
Corporate America, who's gonna save us, who's gonna save us now?

I see the future in the past
Just took the corner way too fast, the reckless ride of modern man
Flattened everything that stands
Fooled by the sales pitch for progress at a dizzy pace
We idolize the filthy rich for giving us synthetic taste
Computer calls, urban sprawl
Is the world a better place, is the world a better place?

Fare thee well, global extinction's forever
So what the hell, order your Mercedes in leather
Veal crates, ozone holes, and toxic waste
And don't count out religious hate
Who can survive this manmade fate?

Gotta get away
Gotta get away, and I need a little help tonight
What 'ya gonna say
Wha 'ya gonna say when you couldn't even see the light
See the light
Yeah

I wish I had seen them perform live.

When that first "Boston" album came out, I remember K-Mart had a huge display right as you entered the store....Boston on albums, 8-Tracks, and the latest in technology: the cassette tape.

Trixter, wasn't it Tom Scholz who was the reason the band took so long to get the third album done?

I don't know why he did it but his death was suicide.

Thats too bad! Boston Rules! I just hope they don't replace him with a new lead singer like Journey did.
Not to mention Queen with Paul Rogers.

I was listening to Gloria Johnson in the 1:00 hour today, and she announced that Brad Delp's death was a suicide, and that he had left 2 notes (as mentioned in the news story above). She also mentioned that she had had a phone conversation with a member of REO Speedwagon yesterday. The two bands were supposed to go out on tour this summer.

I was actually thinking of going to see Boston this summer - never saw them live. I would have skipped REO, though.

He had such an incredible voice . . how sad for the family, and just sad in general. I can't imagine how low he must have felt.

Yeah, REO has never done much for me, the only thing REO does is make me turn the radio dial when ever they come on. I think REO Speedwagon is just as awful as The Goo Goo Dolls and Matchbox 20. Crappy bands that get way too much airplay inn portland.
But I digress, Boston were were great.

Glad I'm not the only one who cannot stand REO Speedwagon.

Way back in 1980, I used to work at a Sam Goody's record store. Their album High Infidelity had just come out, and we played it ad nauseum in the store.

If I hear one of those songs on the radio, I cannot punch buttons fast enough to try and escape it.

I'm going to take some aspirin and lie down now. :-)

Paging Steve Perry, where are you?

I admit I'm a radio-button pusher when Boston comes on.

I heard them waaay to much through high school and college and beyond starting in 1976. The album, the 8 track, the cassette, the radio...you couldn't escape it. It wouldn't die.

Every.
Single.
Party.

and every kegger, every dance, in guy's cars, from dorm rooms, my sister's close-n-play, you name it! For a dead-head, it was torture.

Please, just give me Tom Petty, The Cars, Heart, Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, Bob Marley, The Outlaws, anything but that damn Boston I.

But I feel badly for his fiancee', family and friends, and everybody that grew up on, made out to, or loved Boston.

Died of carbon monoxide poisoning, from two barbecues and apparently auto exhaust. Very carefully done. And left warning notes around so others would be aware of the gas. Wow. Just a very sad story.

Extremely.

I've dealt a lot with suicide. There is just no way to put all of them into a box. Each case is so different. No magic formula to save someone. Which just leaves: Sad.
