I'll give her this - She's got balls. I have no idea what motivates her anymore. She just doesn't give a shit - and it shows. You folks who admire her, please, be MORE vocal about it. I mean, REALLY support her and everything she stands for and says. I'm not even going to dismiss her as a nut-job. On the contrary. I think she really does speak for much of the right. Am I wrong? Doesn't FEEL wrong. Prove to me that I am wrong and we can talk. But if the right is going to secretly enjoy her, you know, " caling it like it is " or whatever label you want to label it - hey - go for it. In fact, if I were you, I'd donate some money to her and her causes. Promote the shit out of her. I love it. I disagree with the mantis. But hey, at some point I have to make a call - This gal is off. But that's just my opinion.

Democrats have go their nut jobs too. But I'm not into that. I don't respond to it. There is just something that actually smacks of secretive GLEE within the Republican party when this hilarious chick unhinges her jaw to speak.

Plus, you can just see that she's nuts. The eyes don't lie, man.

Follow her down to Hell. PLEASE.

"I'll give her this - She's got balls."

This snapping jawed crow is a real piece of work. I am not offended either, CJ, because I think you may have stumbled upon the truth. She is, after all, the "Sister Paula" of fascism. It is not surprising that a post-op transsexual would use the word faggot. "Ann" as she calls herself, is probably preparing us all for the truth about Mister Coulter. Seriously, has anyone ever seen a birth certificate for this creature?

This administration has had a very latent undertone. With gay porn stars planted in the press corps, an endless stream of "protesteth too much" from legislators, and the adoption of J. Edgar Hoover's views on civil rights, they make one wonder. Perhaps, before long, they all will leave the closet behind in some mass gay rapture. It wouldn't be the first time that the shrub saw pink elephants.

"We're against gay marriage. I don't want gays to be discriminated against."

Which is it, horse-face?

Sorry, I can't take any credence into any words spoken by someone who looks like Mr. Ed.

She's a vile human being. I don't think we should even bring her up anymore.

I think it's silly anyone pays any attention to Ann Coulter in the first place. She got a circus act and does outrageous things just for effect.

She'll be happy for the uproar as it makes her even more famous.

She's got the Dems working for her once again.

Ahh... but there is the rub!

She has a national voice. If we had any amount of ethics left in our major media organizations, she would not have that voice.

That's what I suspected to hear too. I guess a little bit of validation is what I was fishing for.

This also applies to Rush, Hannity, O'Rielly et al, right? yes/no?

what about Rudy Guliani? yes/no?

Robert Gates? yes/no?

Obviously we care what Rudy says because he is a likely presidental candidate (and was elected to office in New York City previously). And Robert Gates was nominated by one elected official (Bush) and confirmed by the elected legislative branch.

An "author" or a talk show host of course has no political standing, but their views matter if people listen to them and take them seriously. I'd stay that nowadays Rush Limbaugh's views aren't very influential, despite his millions of listeners, but there was a time when Rush was extremely influential.

Ann is just a person who knows how to "work the media" to get herself free publicity. What is somewhat surprising is the flippant way in which she dismisses criticisms. It is almost magic how today's media climate can make a person like this invincible. Ann also made herself famous with a comment (in reference to how 9/11 should be handled) that the US should invade the countries that the hijackers came from, kill their political leaders, and convert the people to Christianity.

Here's a more philosophical question: should the media report on outbursts like these when they come from a person who has a reputation for saying these kinds of things? One could say that either way, there are negative consequences--that is, run a story, and the person gets free publicity; ignore running a story, and the criticism might be made that reporters indirectly saying that this kind of behavior is OK.

The media isn't interested in the consequences of its actions. They care about ratings - period. That's why we hear so much about Anna Nicole and Britney. Devil Woman's outbursts get people upset and angry - and get people watching. Ratings. What else do they need to know?

I tried to write my previous post several times, and in earlier incarnations, I put something in about media outlets being desperate for any edge they could get in ratings. The modus operandi seems to be, if it is attention-grabbing, it goes on the air because that's good for ratings. Unfortunately, the outrageous and weird has a good track record for generating ratings. (exhibit I: Coast-to-Coast AM/Art Bell's huge popularity)

She's just a female Howard Stern in a different genre.

Howard fans will get all defensive at that, and say no, Howard has talent. But as irritating as her message can be, Ann is a skilled writer.

Agreed Alfredo.

But the more troubling aspect is the sheer number of people craving her work --if one can call it that most times.

We've got a growing body of hateful people in this country and that is worrysome. Read a few articles about how that conference was filled with Conservatives, not Republicans.

?!?

What does this all say about the "family values" people?
