Lars Larson Show on location in Israel Next Week Portland, Oregon (March 1, 2007) – NewsRadio 750 KXL talk-show host Lars Larson will broadcast live from Israel on Monday, March 5th through Wednesday, March 7th from 11:00am – 3:00pm Portland time. The Lars Larson show is one of only 3 national talk shows (and the only local host) invited to Israel courtesy of Talkers Magazine and “America’s Voices in Israel”. Larson will visit and report on historical landmarks and the people of Israel as well as the continuing controversial issues facing the Middle East and how those issues affect Israel and the United States. Expect riveting interviews during Lars’ stint in Israel. "Having Lars broadcast from Jerusalem is a tremendous opportunity,” said KXL Program Director James Derby. “This will mark Lars’ second trip to the Holy Land and if its anything like the first trip, our listeners will be treated to an unbelievably informative and entertaining show.” Trip sponsors for Lars Larson’s journey to Israel are El Al airlines and the David Citadel Hotel. Will Lars reveal the cost of this junket? He would demand that of politicians. He would even say they were being bought out by Israel, as the airline is the official airline of that country and supported by U.S. taxpayers. Yep, old Lars is using our tax money for a junket.

I am no fan of Lars - far from it. But I see your connection to our tas dollars a stretch at best.

El Al is funded by the Israeli government, which we give billions to.

No legitimate news organization these days will allow junkets paid by others. Lars claims to be a journalist — and he was once one of the best in Portland — but he loses great credibilty to that claim with this trip. KXL should be covering all of his costs.

Yes, Lars is visiting our 51st state. So what. Is this any surprise? It is a vacationland for evangelicals who like Jewish people, so long as they do not see them in their neighborhoods, at school or work, or at the country club. He does not see the apartheid in Israel now, any more than he saw the apartheid in South Africa back in the day. No, he is not a journalist, he is a salesman. He knows his demographic thinks that Israel is groovy and he has stuff to sell. I hope he has fun on his junket and is not forced to process the reality of his trip to the most totalitarian state in the union.
