Can anyone point me to some kind of article or something that gives an accurate update on the heavily campagined ( Democrat ) issue of Immigration reform? I just can't use Lou Dobbs to get all my information on this topic. Anyone else got an update of actual attempts or even better, actual results on the promised reform?

I like to think I am fairly well informed. But I have recently been shown that I am not. If there isn't any update to be had, I'd like to know that. If I missed some legislation that has been presented, but not passed, I'd like to know that too.

It was a BIG issue for Democrats and I was looking to them for some solutions. Anyone got any?

What Immigration reform from anybody? Seems to me neither party has the balls to deal with this.

I know it's early in the session - but I mean, this was a big campaign issue. I'm just not seeing anything on the horizon about it. Maybe leter, eh? Hmmm.

CJ, I found a heap of information about the issue from sources that are not affiliated with Grampa Lou, but you are right, there is little beyond a pile of Op-Ed as far as news goes. Here is a handful of resources that could give us an update quicker than the feral puppy network.

The latest from the Fair Immigration Reform Movement shows that they planned to meet with Congress this past week:
"Week of Education & Action, February 19-23: "Learn Our Stories, Listen to Our Solutions, and Lift Our Voices for Change." The week targets intensive contacts with Members of Congress in their districts and educational activities that dig deeper into our constituencies with information about elements of the FIRM platform and congressional scenarios in 2007."

I don't even know why there is a debate over the issue.

The very first word in the term "Illegal Alien" should tell you there is something wrong.

Sort of a related topic and possibly a topic for a new thread.

Someone told me today the there was something like 25+ states that don't accept Oregon drivers licenses as legal identification and that shortly the TSA at the nations airports was going to do the same.

The reason, they said, is Oregon's lax policy in issuing drivers licenses to just about anybody.

I've never heard it mentioned before and kind of don't buy it. I would tend to think if it was true that it would be all over the news.

Has anybody else heard this or anything similar?

I don't know why I named it Illegal Immigration. Oxymoron or something. I just meant, you know, the thing that was, uh, talked about so much.
