There are probably several names to add to this list. What about Dr Lendon Smith? He had his own network TV show, a syndicated radio program and showed up on the Tonight Show frequently. Sally Struthers, Lindsay Wagner, Jane Powell, Johnny Ray, Mark Lindsay! What about the girl who married Bruce Springsteen? |

Go back to 1959 or 60 there was Richard Lawrence Marquette who murdered a lady after which decomposed her body and the head was found in a trash can. At9 yrs old I first heard this on Kisn Action Central. BTW,does anyone know what happened to Marquette?......BTW.....Mrs Merkin, I share your opinion about news during sweeps.Dumbing down at its finest. |

Ann Curry? I didn't know that. I think she would've been a much better choice than Katie Couric (barf) for evening news. |

Back in the early 1960's there was a horrific Oregon murder for its time. A mother threw her two children into the Crooked River Canyon, killing them. Can't remember if this was off the old Crooked River Bridge. The mother did this so the children would be out of the way. At the time she was having affair with another woman. |

The woman who killed her kids early nineties, now cant think of name. Down near Eugene or Albany then later escaped from prison. Is it - Diana Downs? |

Craig, you're remembering the horrific homicides of two children in 1961 by Jeannace June Freeman and Gertrude Nunez. They were Nunez' young boy and girl. Both had been brutally abused sexually and thrown off the Crooked River Bridge. I saw the autopsy photos when I was covering Freeman's parole hearings 20 years ago. Describing what they did to those kids I just can't describe in a forum such as this. Freeman convinced her lover, Nunez, that her kids must die because they were in the way of their relationship. |

I've never heard anyone "qualify" Ginger Rogers before! She's probably the 2nd best known dancer in the world but I don't think she's from here. If we're just counting people who have lived in Oregon, I believe Stella Stevens has a ranch in the state and Clark Gable once worked for the Oregonian. Paul Revere & the Raiders basically broke nationally from here and they were one of the biggest American rock bands of the '60s! |

Brooks: Yes! I remember the parole hearing on the news. The story was told to me by my mother & father when we would cross the Crooked River Bridge on camping trips. At the time I was 6 years old, that's why I can't remember very much. |

Semoochie, Ginger Rogers owned the Rogue River Ranch from 1940-1990. I didn't know about The Oregonian connection, but Clark Gable once worked at Meier & Frank. Here's a good reference for us on Notable Oregonians |
