"I'm committed to trying to give more voices and choices to the American people on the ballot. That means more third parties, independent candidates and to break up this two-party elected dictatorship that is becoming more and more like a dial for the same corporate dollars."
-- Ralph Nader

That is a fine article to help salve the wounds of a staggering party, but I do not see a shred of evidence that he would draw too many votes away from any candidate. Of course, what I should be saying is that he scares the hell out of the left so the right wing will fill his coffers to the brim.

Then, when he wins, I can point out to you how well it works when a faction of the right wing puts something into action and then cannot control it. After all, they trained and funded the Taliban and provided everything and the kitchen sink to Saddam Hussein. The difference this time is that America might be a better place with President Nader. Instead of disdain, disbelief and disappointment, I will simply enjoy a good belly laugh.

Ralph Nader is General Motors' nightmare.
Ralph Nader is not Hillary's nightmare.
Her nightmare is being tapped by a scriptwriter for, "The Devil Wears Prada II"

If this happens, it will be with a lot of GOP support.

It's not like they can run on their record, nor the quality of their front runners now can they?

Nice FUD form today Herb. The political winds gettin' under your skin?

Hope so.

Keep whistling past the graveyard, guys. In politics, almost anything can happen. Arrogance has a way of biting one in the behind. Pride cometh before a fall.

You wrote that before the recent sweep.

Pride? Look hard at the Resident for how that fall happens. Remember the last election? Pride is how we got here --that and a near complete disregard for the American people.

Remember, this is not a left way being the better way thing. It's simply the GOP way is not the right way. Our current path is a bad one. Our Resident does not appear to be listening, so it escalates. What choice do we really have?

Recognition of our nation running aground and applying pressure is not arrogance, it's our duty.

As always, you frame it in terms far more simple than reality.

Tell me how that is not a letter-perfect description of Bush.

You know how Bush constantly makes Fruedian slips? Saying the opposite of what the people want him to say, but accidentally revealing the truth? Herb, I think you do that exact same thing around here ALL the time. It's bizzare. No wonder you defend his administration so much - they speak your language!

OK. I read the article.

It is not a doomsday scenario for me. Not even close.

Herb, I've noticed a certain spiraling in your posts lately. Working really hard to convince us that we are in trouble, we have no hope, our party is hopeless and we'd best just go ahead and vote Republican.

You'll forgive me if I take your thought out to their logical conclusion. I mean, someone has to.

Do YOU respond to that kind of brain-washing? I don't. Go peddle your false hopelessness to the weak minded. It's what your party is good at.

Herb, you like football don't you?
Great American game.
The running backs and receivers often run down the left sideline or the right sideline.
They also score a helluvalotta points.
They almost never score the most points.
No way.
No, really.
Look.
I brought evidence.

http://www.nfl.com/history/randf/records/indiv/scoring

Most Points, Career
-------------------
2,434 Gary Anderson, Pittsburgh, 1982-1994; Philadelphia, 1995-96; San Francisco, 1997; Minnesota, 1998-2002; Tennessee, 2003-04 (820-pat, 538-fg)

2,358 Morten Andersen, New Orleans, 1982-1994; Atlanta, 1995-2000; N.Y. Giants, 2001; Kansas City, 2002-03; Minnesota, 2004 (798-pat, 520-fg)

2,002 George Blanda, Chi. Bears, 1949, 1950-58; Baltimore, 1950; Houston, 1960-66; Oakland, 1967-1975 (9-td, 943-pat, 335-fg)

Most Points, Season
-------------------
176 Paul Hornung, Green Bay, 1960 (15-td, 41-pat, 15-fg)

168 Shaun Alexander, Seattle, 2005 (28-td)

164 Gary Anderson, Minnesota, 1998 (59-pat, 35-fg)

Most Seasons, 100 or More Points
--------------------------------
14 Gary Anderson, Pittsburgh, 1983-85, 1988, 1991-94; Philadelphia, 1996; San Francisco, 1997; Minnesota, 1998-2000; Tennessee, 2003

14 Morten Andersen, New Orleans, 1985-89, 1991-94; Atlanta, 1995, 1997-98; Kansas City, 2002-03

Most Consecutive Games Scoring
------------------------------
332 Morten Andersen, New Orleans, 1982-1994; Atlanta, 1995-2000; N.Y. Giants, 2001; Kansas City, 2002-03; Minnesota, 2004 (current)

204 Jason Elam, Denver, 1993-2005 (current)

186 Jim Breech, Oakland, 1979; Cincinnati, 1980-1992

Only one man listed above is a running back, and I must say, one of my favorites ever, Seattle's own Shaun Alexander.
You know what the rest of these men do for a living?
Some are even talented enough to throw touchdowns too, but they mostly kick field goals and extra points.
You know how they do that?
Right down the middle.
Almost every time.
America's best political leaders have always been kickers.
Not flashy, not brash, not stars.
Just champions.
Right down the middle.
Almost every time.
