Dixie Chicks clean up at the Grammys tonight. They said, "we are the voice of the people"... Was this about music quality, or politics? I'm not sure...

Nope. Sorry! The vote is among their industry peers. The People's Choice Awards would be a better barometer.

I watched last night, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the performances that I saw. Ironically, what I saw yesterday seemed a world away from what CHR radio stations generally play today.

I was wondering who the maroon was who told Justin Timberlake that a handheld camera and EXTREME close-ups of his schnozz were a good idea.

The handheld camera was a stupid idea and not very professional looking, in my opinion. That was one aspect that I didn't quite get. Perhaps, the thinking was that they were going for a camera-phone look, and that to many of Justin's fans, this would seem cool. This is yet another example of modern video presentation that I could do without.

Yes, I think different generations here. I spoke with a couple of people in their early 20's today and they thought Justin-Cam, as they put it, was cool!

These idiots thought that "Winchester Cathedral" was better than "Good Vibrations" back in '67. I suppose that any insider awards show is bound to be shortsighted, but that is an all-time blunder. Still, it is a good place to be reassured that the lowest common denominator is still the largest target audience. To be fair, the Dixie Chicks are incredibly talented, fun to watch and do something that few of their popular contemporaries can manage: They play instruments!

I watched The Police and that was it. I'll be going to B.C. for their first show.

They also will play Seattle June 6th. (Looks like the closest show to PDX)

Another thing that made me go "ummm???" during yesterday's Grammy broadcast was the Gnarles Barkley performance. He had this big string section, but I swear that I could not hear the strings at any time during the song! I found his performance a lot more palatable than the version of the same song that is played on the radio (I think that he was intentionally trying to broaden the demographic appeal of the song). The airline pilot uniforms that he and his musicians wore were goofy, in a good way.

I'm not a fan of any of those kinds of programs. The Grammy’s, Emmy's Oscars, etc. To me, all they are is a bunch of snobs patting each other on the back. The Peoples Choice Awards seem a little better, but to me it seems that the demographic that it is aimed at is 12-17 year old girls. I'm disappointed to hear that the Ditsie Twits won anything!

"They also will play Seattle June 6th. (Looks like the closest show to PDX)" Yeah. But it's their first on May 28 and I've never been to B.C..
