But there are other points which show that considerable discussion must have gone on within the insurgency movement -- possibly involving the group's rival, the Iraqi Islamic Army.

They call, for example, for the disbandment of militias and the outlawing of militia organisations -- something the US government has been urging the Iraqi Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki, to do for months.

Seems those Oil agreements are causing more than a little bit of tension! And freedom is probably defined just a bit differently than these guys anticipated. I'm sure being part of a brand new Islamic Republic, with multi-nationals having pumping rights for the next 30 years just makes them happy as clams.

My point here is to not sympathise with these guys, but clearly the issues are not as cut and dried as we are led to believe.

How come we are not getting this particular piece of news? It sure seems significant in that some alternatives may well be on the table and clearly suggests this goes way beyond, "they hate us for our freedom."

Seeing the occasional glimpse like this makes me wonder just how far the wool has been pulled over our eyes. What we know does not add up, could it be that poor reporting is largely responsible for that?

Heck, for all we know, the Resident might really change his position, given some real pressure from an informed population and their newly elected Congress.
