What an Idiot. The dude breaks into mobile trucks, jacks equipment and speakers and the like and piles it into the screamland hurst! The the Bozo curls up in the front seat and go's to sleep. The really moronic thing is he did not wake up in time to hotwire the Hurst and make his getaway! Score on for the police and rack up another one for Darwin's Theory proven correct!

Former Z100 PD Michael Hayes exits KMYI.

This from Radio On-line: Michael Hays exits KMYI-FM (Star 94.1)/San Diego as Program Director in a restructuring move. Co-owned CHR KHTS-FM (Channel 933) PD Jimmy Steele adds programming duties. Prior to joining the CC Hot AC in April 2006, Hays spent four years as PD of KKRZ-FM/Portland, OR, and previously served as PD of WKST-FM (96.1 Kiss-FM)/Pittsburgh. He also programmed WKSI-FM/Greensboro. (03-23-07)

Mike Haze was the dude that let go in 02 nelson, stacy lynn, Dr Doug, Skippy, Matt wilcox and a bunch of others and laughed about it as Z100's ratings and revenue crumbled in a few months...word was all he kept was Ck, who wanted to work at Jammin 95 at the time.... seems like yesterday all the poop went down there on Macadam Ave

The air talent on Z100 today is so pale compared to what it used to be. Im sure if Ck came to portland he would be laughing his ass off at the talent they have on Z100.

I liked Ck when he was on Z100! He was totally cocky on the air and at times a bit rude to listeners, but always entertaining.

Hey, I never once said that being cocky and slightly rude on the air was a bad thing. Infact I give credit to dj's that are slightly cocky and might be slightly rude to the listeners. (Im not talking about being an A$$ hole, but I am talking about pushing the envelope. I think it gets old when dj's are always super nice to the listeners, a little arrogance and cockiness makes great radio. Craig the Dog Face Boy had this down to an artform and it was extremely entertaining.
CK was a great talent on Z100, but thats back in the day when Z100 actually cared about getting the best talent. Today Z100 will put anybody on the air! Its pathetic.

Worried sick.. the old martyr in me is flattered. My departure from Clear Channel left me on the beach

You rock Val Ring! Most of my fondest radio memories are with you mornings on Z100! By the way, do you still Have Penny the Golden Retriever? Just curious. I remember you used to talk about her a lot on the air. Just wonderin.
Take care Val and stay strong!
By the way those "bathroom interviews" you used to do on Z100 was by far the funniest bits ever done in radio, and I really mean that! Trust me, you will never be forgotten! Z100 has not been the same since you and the original crew left! You guys took a morning show above and beyond greatness, and the loyal fans will never forget it.

I agree Val Ring is a Super Star!!

Hey Matt Jones:
Was that Intro that Ck had on his show, was that produced at Z100 or is that something that he made a while back? I remeber listening to the start of his show when he did nights on Z100 and thinking WOW that really sounds good! He had a puff daddy song in the back ground, and he would always say "WHAAAAAATS up BABY"! It was high energy and totally brought excitement to his show. I actually recorded on tape his first night on Z100, Dr. Doug who was doing afternoons on Z100 at the time was introducing him on the air. I wish I kept the tape.

Hello there, Beano!

To answer your question.. No, the Bad Boy Broadcast intro that CK used for the open of his evening show was not produced at Z100. CK & the BBB was his creation from his previous station. I remember that all of his produced bits were still on cart, and that these carts were actually the 'master' tapes, so I helped him back them up onto a more permanent format. But you're right...it was a great intro!

I need to correct tow points of information from earlier in this thread. Craig Adams cites Radio Online as saying; ".., Hays spent four years as PD of KKRZ-FM/Portland, OR..." Actually, Michael Hayes was PD at Z100 for only two years. Feb of 02 to Mar 04.

And Kurtis states: "...Mike Haze was the dude that let go in 02 nelson, stacy lynn, Dr Doug, Skippy, Matt wilcox and a bunch of others and laughed about it as Z100's ratings and revenue crumbled in a few months.." All I can say is, hindsight is 20/20, but I doubt he laughed about it. However, he did not fire Nelson. Nelson left on his own terms 14 months before Michael Hayes ever entered the building.

Probably nit-picky points, but I just wanted to set the record straight.

Val...we miss you, hope you're doing well.

And Lander..it's been awhile. Drop me a note.

Ck would often jump on air an hour early and he and Dr Doug would be on air together some days, that was fun to listen to then back in the day.

That station Sounded so Polished when Ck was doing nights. They were at the Peak of great radio when everyone got blown out of the station. Today when i turn on Z100 I can't help but laugh at how bland the station sounds. It just seemed the radio industry made a 180 overnight and suddenly voice tracking took over, the air talent was not as good as it used to be. Im 29 and growing up listening to Z100 I know how great of a station that used to be. Its really sad that companies just don't give a damn about the product, they don't care about getting the best air talent, they are ok with putting just about anything on the air as long as it saves them money. Good radio is a thing of the past, Im just glad I grew up in a period of time when Radio was at its peak of greatness, stations actually cared about listeners and the talent KICKED ASS and was LIVE AND LOCAL! Heres another interesting thing I heard on Z100 the other day that made me shake my head and go WTF!!!
"More music less talk" on Z100! On a top 40 station you have to be kidding me! I used to listen to radio because of the great talent, along with the music. Great radio is a thing of the past and I'm slowly trying to accept that fact.

...maybe not forever.

You've got lots of other media delivery technologies that are growing nicely. Great talent, if it remains relevant may well find audiences. If that happens, it can find it's way back to the radio.

Damm, I liked the station too! I used to laugh regularly when listening. Miss that.

Hey Timberfake here is another interesting fact.
The Buckhead show is on from 5-9. Since when has a morning show on Z100 ever been off at 9am????? The answer is NEVER!!!!! If the morning show was good and the station actually cared about the talent it would be on tell 10am, BUT THEY Don't! Listeners obviously don't care about the talent anymore, ane why should they, they bring nothing to the station.
"more music, less talk"- That is by far the most pathetic thing I have ever heard on that station.

From FMQB:

"Changes in morning drive at Clear Channel CHR WHKF (99.3 KISS-FM)/Harrisburg, where the current Morning Mess lineup (Jason Barsky, Kelly & Gavin Ferguson) exits the Central Pennsylvania radio market on April 20. The New KISS Morning Mess will feature Mike Miller, who returns home to the station he helped launch five years ago. Miller (aka Chase) comes from Portland where he has served as APD and highly rated afternoon drive host at sister CHR KKRZ (Z100)/Portland. Miller's start date is yet to be determined."

Pathetic is a harsh word to use when you're talking about human beings trying to keep us listening for more than a quarter hour. After 30 years of morning drive here in Portland I can tell you that the times
that I gave it my all (habitually showing up at station events, giving 100%) didn't always jive with
good product or good ratings. That old adage of throwing things up against the wall really is true
in many cases.

I'm a little late to post on this one: People don't read these threads carefully enough. I wasn't talking specifically about Z100. I said that morning drive used to end at 9AM and on some stations, it still does. I was making a point about the former industry standard and saying that it would be acceptable for Z100 to end their morning show at that time. You lost me on your point about K103 not being a personality based station. If it isn't, I don't know who is!

The Buckhead show sounds like a bunch of high School Punks trying to sound cool on the radio. "HEY look at me, I'm on the radio" is what I get from that show, Its unlistenable, and the only ones defending it is the members on the show. Z100 is a prime example of how Clear Channel Has DESTROYED great radio stations around the country.

I Disagree with that Roger, some of the tallent I've been hearing on Z100 sounds VERY AMATURE sounding. If Clear Channel didn't take over and cheapen the product I can almost guarantee you none of the current talents would be working for Z100! They would be working for a much smaller market! Im not hating, im just being honest!
