Defacto acknowledgement that the target demo is dropping support for people who are over 40 years old ... the New Classic Rock emerges with a ton of schlock from the 80's and 90's which posters have said has been creeping into the rotation. Who cares. KGON sucks, always has, always will. The ruiners of a lot of good music.

Seeing that Entercom owns KGON, they are probably going to announce that they are firing all the jocks and going totally automated. Who needs jocks when your entire play list is on a hard drive. They figure you've heard everything they are going to play for the next year anyway. So we can all find another station to listen to. ;) just kidding.

OK...i'll just wait and hear it with everyone else. Thought maybe a special announcement about some concert or new programming or.....well we will see I guess! KGON is the only choice for me on the dial. Next stop is my "ZUNE" if they do some bonebrain move like that!

To quick for that again. Maybe the Classic Rock will become the Everything that Rock's officially! I don't know. Now what would be special is if they would give away cruise for 2 packages on this years Cabo Wabo party cruise! Now that would be a great giveaway!!!!!

I wouldn't assume that they are going to become K-GON-zales. If you want to start a dumb rumor, say they found a shipping crate full of Vic Ives' old reels, dusted off a pair of 440s and are going "retro" with MOYL off the bird overnights.

A major announcement is a desperate attempt to get people to listen. Its nothing but hype! YAWN!

The "major announcements" are like preaching to the choir. They tease the current but NEVER generate the buzz to draw new listeners. Were it to be a format flip, that would only serve to swap listeners not bring in new ones. Sweeps hype, nothing more is the norm. A local station just spent a week hyping "he's back, the return of an old friend." What turned out to be the return of the Michael Savage program. Big whoop. Once baseball starts up, he will constanly be pre-empted. Old friend indeed. How about returning a familiar "LOCAL" voice. Whoopie! a syndie show replaced by a syndie show.... This time of year, a "MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT" rarely is.

Darktemper -- and anyone else -- if you dug the A to Z, you can thank Bonnie Knox for putting it together. She mentioned the project on the KISN thread. I am reminded of the KMJK giveaways of tours to the "Hiney Winery on beautiful Ross Island."

Unless it was yesterday after tomorrow before now! No...no real suprise.....they just said they are going to add a lot of the dusty greats back into rotation! I think more "B" sides stuff would actually be refreshing for a change! IMHO....some better muic there than on the "A" sides. Just not on the top 100 charts because they were not selected and rammed down out throats like the "A" side chart toppers. BUT EVERY BIT AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER THAN!

>>Was there any announcement at 10:00am? Somebody started another thread with a cryptic title regarding the 10am announcement, even though this thread would have been the logical place to continue the conversation. The announcement was apparently to the effect of "Now, more classic rock with some of the A to Z music in the regular mix."

I'm underwhelmed. They should have been rotating all the A to Z stuff already. How about getting some more CD's by core groups and playing them. Need more Boston, Damn Yankees, Def Leppard, Foreigner, Rush, and Styx (to name a few).

Man, I was hoping Big BA and Kay-C (sp?) were replacing M&B. Wasn't that who was there before M&B? I really liked listening to them. KayC: our loss, Bend's gain.

Playing more b sides and lesser known songs is a step in the right direction. Kgon's music has been stale for a long time, but even worse is KINK. Nothing but Matchbox 20 and Goo Goo Dolls all day long. Once a station that was very interesting and unique has turned into a mess.

Mrs merkin: "The Big B.A. & K.C." were always afternoon drive. K.C. Caldwell had also done traffic for M&B. That's where you might be confusing mornings with afternoons. The show before M&B was D&T "Dave & Tom".

Here is an idea!!!! Play music on the AM drive. WOW a radio station playing tunes on the AM drive slot....how unique! Put M&B on around midnight to 4:00am when I am usually asleep....except for this damn (six days now I think...it's all a blur at this point) insomnia. Wait better idea....put them on at 10:00pm and i'll tune in and let them bore me to sleep! LOL Just funning.....there are worse shows. Hmmmm can you say "TRAINWRECK" Carolla & Bonaduce! The "SLAMTRAK" special running full steam down the tracks!
