How did any previous PDXRADIO get togethers turn out? Any fist fights, name calling, joke telling, good karaoke, hillarious stories, etc, etc.? Did any station exec's show up and pretty much muzzle the event? Just curious how they went in the past.

I think that with most of this group in attendance it is most likely to literally bring the house down. Think it would be a real hoot!
Sutton has to do a stand up comic show!
Timberfake has to Karaoke his namesake!
DJ and Chris have to run the spelling bee!
Merkin....well....hmmmm....she can be the hostess with the mostest!
I will supply the music...hope you all like Sammy Hagar and Sammy Van Hagar! LOL

Since we can't have booze the first meeting can you bring some Peyote Merkin? That would be fun for sure!
I never will forget that scene in Young Guns were they all got stoned on Peyote....that was hilarious!

I'm bringing a tank of Nitrous. Just say N2O!

Seriously, I didn't say NO booze, just that I think we should all be on fairly decent-people behavior for the FIRST meet-and-greet of 2007. I don't want to scare anyone away.

I'm not a good daylight drinker unless I'm on a warm beach with 2 umbrellas (one in my drink, one for sun) and a muy guapo waiter. Heck, I've barely had a drink in 9+12 months, thanks to Baby M.

So you're in charge of the SECOND event! Which I vow to attend and hold you fully responsible for.

You know what would be a great time and place to have a gathering would be?

Cinco de Mayo party and Tahoe Wabo!

I know I am a broken CD (almost said record)! But I have a DVD of one of his party concerts and they are an absolute BLAST! Also good to have a room to recoop in after maybe one or two people have a few to many shots of Tequila!

How the previous get-togethers went depend on how you define success. The turnout was small (I think 4 people maximum), but it was a pretty good experience for all involved. The notorious name-callers stayed home, as well as the radio execs.

The first one was at the Raccoon Lodge in Raleigh Hills. Me, Alfredo, Doug (Missing), and Jason K. showed up. We had a nice talk - very civil.

The next one (McMenamins in NE) happened just as Portland was having its single snow event of the season (December 2005) - great timing! I made it because I could walk there from my house; amazingly, Alfredo came on the MAX all the way from Hillsboro.

There was one other event that I wasn't involved with at all, which was setup by a now-banned poster - that was a happy hour event I think during the week.

Hey! Are you kidding Warner, you know me better than that! I plan on having a frosty adult beverage or two myself!

I am thinking a Sunday afternoon in February, at a place near Max, a central (downtown-ish?) location, not too crowded, not too loud, not too hip, where we can get a large table, food, and engage freely in social intercourse. I have a few ideas in mind, but if anyone has THE perfect location, let me know!

If you'd like to know my (very) short list of possible places, email me.

mrs_merkin@hotmail.com (or my real address, if you have it.)

Well, the McMenamins NE 15th and Broadway isn't too far from the MAX Lloyd Center stop but it might be too far of a walk for some. (You can take a short ride on the #8 bus from Rose Quarter to get you directly there, though). They do have big tables, though. During that snow event in Dec 2005, Alfredo and I had a huge table to ourselves.

Well, we can leave it to Mrs. M. to pick the location and announce it privately. I doubt a stalker will travel to EVERY possible location looking for us...

Agreed.

IMHO, the first event was just fine. We all had a great time getting to know one another. I can't imagine this one being any different.
