Combined report from All-Access & Northwest Broadcasters: Condolences to family and friends of Radio Pioneer G.A. "Arch" Presby who died Monday (1/22) in Escondido CA at 99. Presby started his career at CFDC Vancouver in 1925, where he was on staff when the calls became CKWX in 1927. He worked for KOMO Seattle, then to KEX Portland between 1928-35, moving to KGO San Francisco 1935-42, where he was heard as the announcer for many NBC Blue Network programs during radio's "Golden Age" (heard on KEX). Then to KFI Los Angeles 1942-50 where he announced NBC programs (heard on KGW). In 1950 Presby moved to the TV side at NBC Los Angeles O&O KNBH/KRCA/KNBC where he worked as Chief Announcer and featured personality until his retirement in 1972. ________________________________________________________________ One of the early NBC-TV shows Arch Presby announced for was the children program: "The Buster Brown TV Show with Smilin' Ed McConnell & The Buster Brown Gang".
