Hey Timberfake..... I'm trying to convince the wife into taking a trip with me this October to Cabo and try to get in on the B-Day bash ala Cabo Wabo and Sam I Am. Looking good so far! Got a place to stay and the airfare covered now just need the exact dates and am set! Gonna try and bring back some Cabo Tequila. Her only reservation is that October is right on the tail end of hurricane season down there. TEN13 That would be a safe bet would it not!

Why Todd? Perhaps its because of his partipciation in the band Utopia and their 1983 groundbreaking music video "Hammer In My Heart".

According to the RRHF, the award is: "to recognize the contributions of those who have had a significant impact on the evolution, development and perpetuation of rock and roll" Todd's accomplishments are too numerous to list, considering they cover his endeavors as songwriter, performer, engineer, producer and multimedia developer. Here are a few. What he is not good at is kissing Jann Wenner's ass, which is what is required to get nominated to the RRHF in the first place. Oh, and while I'm at it put Al Kooper on that list of missing.

I've said it before and I will say it again - the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is not legitimate in any way, shape, form or fashion in my eyes until Rush is inducted. Anything else is gravy.

Is Rush only a "dude's band"? Granted, I know little more than what KGON plays, but I've just never been musically interested enough to dig deeper... Is it like me and my beloved greatest-band-in-the-Universe Grateful Dead? Do they just "grab" you? Is Rush and Geddy Lee an aquired taste? Are there female Rush-heads (not groupies)? Tell me more, guys.

Now tell me this Merkin, know please don't castrate me for saying this, BUT Grateful Dead's music is more of an acquired taste, Right? Ive never understood that band. What makes the music so great? I can see going to a show and getting all meesed up on those great drugs, Hell taking any sort of drug makes Michael Bolton sound talented. ps- Darktemper- Bad news the Yugo is in the shop again. BUT it should be out by early March. pps- Please don't bite too hard merkin.

An acquired taste? Probably, Geddy Lee definitely yes. Neil Peart does it for me. If I were to have a man-crush on one man in this world, want to have his children, Neil Peart is that man for me. I've probably said WAY too much.

Yes, there are female Rush fans ... at least there used to be. They used to call me on the request line back when Rush had all of two albums out, then three albums, then four ... you get the picture. Check out Rush In Rio DVD ... you won't be disappointed. Musically as well as seeing the crowd demographics. Now I will attempt to answer a more difficult question: What makes the music of the Grateful Dead "so great?" To answer in a short paragraph, you have to first examine the music scene during the time of their formation. The bands of those times were very creative and reaching far beyond what was pop music of those times. Their roots of folk and country mixed with the San Francisco blues rock explosion (Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, New Riders Of The Purple Sage) allowed them to take simple tunes and morph them into 10 minute jams exhibiting tremendous give and take among the instruments. This is what got them noticed. What got them such a huge fan base is playing live frequently all over the place. None of the individual players are virtuoso quality, but few bands can play the chorus and bridge and turn the coda into an 8 minute improv and all come back in just at the right time to finish. If you play an instrument you know what I'm talking about. Drugs? It was the the sixties, dude. Pick up a history book. Ken Kesey & The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test", Gilbert Shelton and "The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers" and so forth, Weed from Mexico was $8 bucks an ounce and even at conservative colleges and universities 1/2 the students partoked. There were often as many heads as beerhounds, often some tried to reach top rank in both arenas (without flunking out that's quite an accomplishment). If you really want to understand them, check out 2 early albums. "Workingman's Dead" and "American Beauty." Box Of Rain "Look out of any window any morning, any evening, any day Maybe the sun is shining birds are winging or rain is falling from a heavy sky - What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through? this is all a dream we dreamed one afternoon long ago Walk out of any doorway feel your way, feel your way like the day before Maybe you'll find direction around some corner where it's been waiting to meet you - What do you want me to do, to watch for you while you're sleeping? Well please don't be surprised when you find me dreaming too Look into any eyes you find by you, you can see clear through to another day I know it's been seen before through other eyes on other days while going home -- What do you want me to do, to do for you to see you through? It's all a dream we dreamed one afternoon long ago Walk into splintered sunlight Inch your way through dead dreams to another land Maybe you're tired and broken Your tongue is twisted with words half spoken and thoughts unclear What do you want me to do to do for you to see you through A box of rain will ease the pain and love will see you through Just a box of rain - wind and water - Believe it if you need it, if you don't just pass it on Sun and shower - Wind and rain - in and out the window like a moth before a flame It's just a box of rain I don't know who put it there Believe it if you need it or leave it if you dare But it's just a box of rain or a ribbon for your hair Such a long long time to be gone and a short time to be there" Robert Hunter - Phil Lesh
