There it is!

Saw it this morning, headed toward Bellevue. Ugly, but effective!

They should at least put some cool lights on it or something.

I hear that!

We've got a new hire that should cut down on these significantly. I don't mind the occasional one, but sheesh, it's been UGLY the last few months!

And it's an overnighter too, which is exactly why I'm posting here right now.

What?!?! You're not watching PPV soft-core porn?

I'm watching the doc film "New York Doll" about "Killer Kane" who went from New York Doll member to Mormon convert. Good stuff!

Dammit! I'm missing out!

MrsMissing on the phone at 11PM? Wow! Working? Or checking up on the kiddles?

(At least you're not alone, so you don't need any NC-17 PPV)

Can you please pick up item #172366578903 at IKEA tomorrow? Or anything cool at the Boeing outlet store down the street will do...I'll pay you back.

I am all signed up on IKEA's email service. Also I love the fact that I can take MAX to IKEA and not deal with the parking. Purchase my stuff then head back home on MAX and wait for the delivery truck. "What a country!"

This should get some fiery responses!

I don't plan on shopping at Ikea.

Here's why;

Edit: I got thinking about my post and please don't misunderstand this as just being a troll. I really don't want to see that kind of stuff on TV.

"...they are trying to force their liberal worldview on Americans through television."

Oh, please. Force?

I'm sure IKEA won't miss your/their business for 1 minute. Besides, everyone knows homophobes prefer ugly dreary houses and furniture and furnishings to match.

None of the folks who hate IKEA ads (some of their ads are hilarious!) would be interested in (or caught dead) shopping there anyway.

Too bad you'll miss having Swedish meatballs and lingonberry juice in the cafe. They also make a mean big latte for about $1.25, flavorings included. Good stuff!

Oh well, more for the rest of us!

;=)

I just go there to replace the houseplants that have died since the last visit...

Swedish meatballs sound good! I'll have to make some. I may even be able to get my daughter to eat them!

I'm not sure what lingonberry is, but I've never met a berry I didn't like!

Of the things you mentioned the latte is lowest on my list. Not a coffee fan. However I get my fair share of caffeine. It comes with CO2 dissolved in liquid with it. Diet Coke....It's not just for breakfast any more!

Not a homophobe. Phobe, coming from phobia would indicate that I am scared of homosexuals.

I'm not. I just don't believe its right and don't think there should be any credence given for a lifestyle choice.

If I wanted to marry my dog should I be allowed to just because it's my choice of lifestyle?

The problem I have with IKEA is that everything in that store is poor quality and absolute CRAP! Id rather go elsewhere and pay a little more money and get better quality stuff. I just bought a bunch of dinner glasses at IKEA few months back and they are already chipping. I almost cut my lip on a chipped drinking cup. (bastards!)
IKEA= OVERRATED!!!

You guys crack me up!

I wouldn't buy furniture there unless it was my first apartment or a vacation house, but I do like many of their items (The aforementioned plants!) and some household items, and the well-priced baby-proofing items...but I do find something good there every single time, to the tune of $50-100, just like at damn Costco!

P.S. I married my 80-lb lap-puppies Cosmo and Pearl, but it was a low-key civil service, (and of course, unconsumated). They do sleep under the covers nightly with Mr. M and Me.

I've been up at Rocky Butte a few afternoons the last few weeks shooting pictures. The sign went up in between. Today I went up there and saw it. I got a shot of the sign with Mt. St. Helens behind - plus the basically empty construction site where the store will be (bet it will go up fast!). It could be a pretty cool picture when the store is done; in my picture the sky wasn't really so clear today and the lighting was crap...but if I were Ikea I'd look for a shot like that. If I could get up to RB more easily I'd probably shoot some "in progress" shots of the store from up there and sell them to Ikea...

Buns, and others, I think you are missing the point. Ikea is a hot brand name and that is priceless. Whether or not you think their merchandise is quality or not is not important.
What does matter is that they have succeeded in convincing the consumer that this is "THE" place to shop for hip, contemporary furniture. Guess what? They have succeeded. Also notice that their stores are mostly located in high-income suburbs. From a business standpoint, I give them a thumbs-up. They have played the game perfectly, and will reel in the profits.

Unfortunately, genuine Herman Miller and Knoll items are way more expensive than the cheap Ikea knock-offs. I guess I'll just have to settle for looking at Cara Greenberg's Mid-Century Modern books and, old outdated home decorating books.

More cool expensive stuff at:

I love it! I'd go to Vantucky a lot more if this happened, as long as they're non-smoking, of course! (Meaning both the bars AND the dogs)

Isn't it funny that people can be total political opposites, but those darn non-human family members bring us all together, no matter what! The common ground!

It's those people with no animals, or non-animal lovers that I'm most suspicious of...something's wrong with them for sure!

We take our Guide dog in training everywhere and have only been denied access to one place so far. She goes to restaurant's, movies, stores, pretty much everywhere and she is just the best most pleasant dog you could ever wish for.

Darktemper,

I've seen lots of people with the Guide dog in training dogs in various places. I have to say that I have every one I have seen has been well behaved and friendly. Its a great program.

I would have a problem being a Guide dog trainer. Once I had the dog, I wouldn't want to get rid of it!!!

I'd have a house full of Vizslas if Mrs. Skybill would let me!

Well you sign an agreement and if you don't turn them back it costs you big money. However if they do not make it all of the way through you have the first option at keeping them if you want or they go into a career change program or get adopted with no charge by a family, (I think but am not positive on that, pretty sure though). If you want a Lab best way you could possibly ever get one.

DarkT, who on earth denied entry to a guide dog in training? Is that legal?

SkyB, you have Vislas? I have their cousins, 2 German Wirehaired Pointers.

Chris, I (we) like 90% of IKEA's stuff, especially the bedding, maybe we're (dogs included) too hard on some of it...can I still come over?

Some snoot at a wedding/reception hall. And yes it is legal to not allow one in training but if she was a graduated guide dog and with a blind person it would be illegal to do so. Most places are just fine with it and knocking on wood the only accident to date was big potty in Costco. No big deal, although some people scowled but my boy (the main trainer in our family) cleaned it quick and disinfected the spot with cleaner......always go prepared for accidents!
