How would you rate the programming quality on "94-9 Jamz", compared to KDUK? |
|
Author: Redford Saturday, January 20, 2007 - 4:06 pm |
|
15-30K part-time. Hmmm. That's quite a wide spread. Anyone on the low end of that would most certainly have to have another job, which is basically unworkable for an "events manager". And since it is part-time, my guess is a job that will take those hours right up to the max., w/o benefits. Not to mention how much harder these type of jobs will be post-Entercom Sacramento! Another radio job that is NOT too good to be true! |

Been listening to Jamz tonight. Golly, the Baka Boys show sounds good. It's a shame the local format can't sound like this all day long. The local format plays a lot of crap that no one cares about. ie. JayZ's new album and other rappers that I don't even know. |

94-9's music programming is right on to what a rhythmic chr should be. It's obvious they don't have budget for local talent ...but then again for a start up station the more music quantity works in their favor as they are building audience as well as advertisers...wish their signal strength was better. KDUK's night jock voice tracks a lot of the times are usually the wrong VT's playing between songs. |

I am surprised how good of signal it is being a translator I could here it from a clock radio in harrisburg just fine. In fact there where 2 stores that I went into this week that had it on? |

they are haveing much more sucess now that the format has changed!!! Before the change virtually no community support. Now they are out and about in the community with live remotes sponsership for concerts ect. the former success is now way more successful. |

The low end is to attract the base for the station: The University of Oregon student base. Those who want to work making 15K part-time, while going to college, can and probably will do this. |

94.9 Jamz is bringing E-40 and Twista to Lane Event's Center? That's got to be the bigg'est Hip Hop show I have seen come to Eugene. |

94.9 scored a 2.4 (12+) in the book, which is about what I predicted. That's not bad for a 99 watt signal! Now, I believe the station could do even better with an improved variety of researched gold... |

Jamz did okay in the ratings but playing Outkast's So Fresh & Clean everyday is probably driving some people back to KDUK. That song wasn't one of their bigger hits. I'd like to hear some more older hits like 112, BIG, Blaque and Mary J Blige. |

|
Author: Philspectator Thursday, August 09, 2007 - 3:58 pm |

Jamz surprised many people, including myself. I don't want to speak for anyone, however, many in this market, myself included, didn't think that a hip hop format would survive in this small market. A 2.4 rating is certainly nothing to scoff at. |
|
Author: Radio921 Saturday, August 11, 2007 - 1:05 pm |

Shouldn't be a surprise P-Spect. Hip-Hop now knows no ethnic boundries. Its' crossing into the anglo youth market happen long time ago at least 20 years. Its a format that has its audience even in small markets like the Peoples Republic of Eugene. |

Yes, Hip Hop is very popular in general. |

Author: Philspectator Monday, August 13, 2007 - 1:44 pm |

Radio921: I completely agree with you. Hip-hop knows no ethnic boundaries. It's no surprise that hip-hop has proven it's market power in every corner of the world. This isn't new. Eugene has had many hip hop MC's waiting for a hip hop station for years now. |

Anyone else heard that My Girl Got A Girlfriend song on 94.9? Does anyone actually like that song? 94.9 seems to be taking too many risks with unproven artists, which is making it real easy for KDUK to dominate. |

Author: Sly Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 9:27 pm |

I like it.I heard it a couple of days ago..it sounded a lot better than the Bobby Brown song that KDUK was playing at the same time. |
|
Author: Eugeneradiogirl Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 10:51 pm |
|
Bobby Brown and other cheesy artists from the past are fun to hear on KDUK's old school lunch. 94.9 doesn't ever play anything from the nineties, which is why listeners keep coming back to KDUK. |
|
Author: Sly Friday, August 24, 2007 - 8:14 am |
|
94.9 would be wise to stick with what they are doing as they are still very new. Play the hits and let KDUK play Bobby Brown, Marky Mark etc. Gold titles don't have to be strictly from the late 80's or early 90's |

Naughty By Nature is obviously not a major artist. And I also know, major artists aren't going to come to lil ol' Eugene. We're too small of a market. 94.9 is doing well with the concert promotion. |

Jamz just announced today that Sean Kingston will be joining the Gods of hip hop and comedy concert at Mac Court with Lil Wayne, Fat Joe and Charlie Murphy...good timing as Kingston is kind of the "it" guy currently for mainstream top 40 and rhythmic top 40. |

First Let me say that forever I will find Greg Charles' comments witty and amusing. Radio is still not the same without you. I think that 94.9 is doing well to carve a home in the market. I'm okay with PK and the playhouse. The syndicated shows sound good, imaging is on par, but here are the things that do not work for me. First Dan Nims (no matter how talented he may be "HIP" is something he is more likely to have replaced then portray on the radio) He just sounds strange. The rest of the energy from the dayparts and "talent" seem to be lacking in comparison to the syndicated feature shows they are using. Eugene's Hip Hop and Party Station. After the playhouse where is the party before the "Big Boy" show? |
|
Author: Oldbroadcaster Friday, August 31, 2007 - 12:44 am |

No kidding. 94.9 has a bunch of old geezers on the air. Why don't they hire some 20 year old broadcast students who wouldn't mind working for minimum wage? |
|
Author: Exradioguy Friday, August 31, 2007 - 5:11 pm |

I think that there has to be some talent in the area that could at least add some life to the station. Either young or some that sound younger than the before mentioned Pappy Nims. I'd even vote for Greg Charles to do a shift. He'd at least be prep'd and entertaining. Even if he is getting up there Any Idea what equipment they are using? |

I listen to the station and outside of Dan...who else sounds old? Eric B. sounds good for the limited time he's on in the afternoon..Tekneek at night is somewhat entertaining...they do go a considerable long stretch till late afternoon without a jock..wonder if they plan to fill that midday slot? |

I still don't get 94.9 programming. They're finally playing Eliott Yamin but they still aren't playing Fergie's current top 10 hit? Don't they know how popular that song is? They even came out with a new remix with rap which I heard on KDUK. |
