What do you think? Should Fox have aired this or blanked it out? http://www.afa.net/images/eagles.gif

I don't really believe in the censorship rules we have now in the broadcast media, so I'm certainly not opposed to this harmless little expression - except that I'm an Eagles fan... Andrew

I guess my issue is what if you're watching the game with your kids?

Kids? You think they haven't seen the F-word by now? Unless they are home schooled and highly overprotected, surely they have seen much worse than that by now - even if very young. I think we're way too anal in our society about trying to protect our kids from stuff they already see every day. Not that we should show uncensored R-rated films during prime or let radio shows broadcast during "family hours" use foul language constantly - but the fines today in media for "obscenity" are what is really obscene. I think it's perfectly fine to ask this question from time to time - it's healthy. Always good to keep things in check and do the occasional temperature taking - but; If I am watching that game with my kid ( assuming he's old enough to read it and process it ) then, to put it bluntly, I would rather direct his attention to what kind of person wears a t-shirt like that and why. I would tell him that there are people that do and say silly and sometimes stupid things. He may, someday, do something stupid or say something he later regrets - but - be your own man, Son. And in doing so, THINK about what you are doing. If you decide to do it, there are reprecussions - good or bad. But think, son. Just think. I'll still love you. You wanna wear a goofy shirt? Go ahead. ( Obviously not when he's 4 and I am buying his clothes ). But she is an adult - and adults do weird things sometimes. That's not a battle that I am going to put equal weight behind. And what people do on television is not going to be a guiding force behind finding your moral compass. Use your noggin.

Parents that OVER protect their kids from Society, the media ect will turn their kids into raging ALCOHOLICS!!!! If your young child wants a sip of wine at dinner LET THEM! If young johnny wants a sip of Dad's beer, LET THEM!!!!! Its the forbidden fruit, KIDS WANT WHAT THEY CAN'T HAVE!!! Look at all the kids in college these days! Who are the ones that go out and get completey Shit faced at parties?? Who are the ones that black out and get alcohol poisoning??? Kids that were way too sheltered growing up. Now Im not advising you to give young children shots ofTequila every night, BUT I am advising all parents to be a little more liberal with tv watching. So what if young Johnny saw Janet Jackson's Tits?? Is he scarred for life, I don't think so. Thats my 2 cents. Ps- You probably won't believe me but I'm not Dr. Phil, although I do like to play him on TV.

Andrew, I'm 200% in agreement with you on this one. Beano, I grew up on an Iowa farm decades ago, where there was plenty of beer and other booze and lots of people smoked in those days. The health hazards were not yet known. My father's policy was that I could partake in any of those things so long as I did it in front of him and not behind his back. As a result, I never cared for any of them and don't to this day. I might add that farm kids were well indoctrinated in the procedures of recreation at a very early age and we didn't turn into sex fiends.

It's a fine balance... You have the sheltered child who feels like they've been missing something because of their parents.... And then you have the totally unsupervised child who does everything to see how much they can get away with. And right in between....you have a well adjusted kid that knows the meaning of moderation. Just to let you all know...I'm none of these things...especially well-adjusted.

Some people who live in a house very close to mine (name/locations not mentioned to protect the guilty) have three children (and now a fourth) who are home-schooled and are incredibly sheltered/overprotected. I can't help but feel sorry for them, whenever riding to the BMX spot down the way with "Uncle Fox" (not my title or relation by the way) the kids encounter a jump and they don't dare take it, "they might get hurt". They don't dare go into public alone, for fear of they "might hear a bad word". They don't watch TV or use the Internet, for fear of they "might see bad things." Sadly they are of the Flanders mindset, of which even thinking of the one little word--"fuck"--they will burn in hell for sure! (I sure hope they aren't reading this, for fear of "Uncle Fox" becoming a condemned neighbour.....) I am almost certain parents who do this to their kids are unaware they are screwing the kids up royally! Interesting to note, on the other hand, I was brought up in a household with TV on regularly, us kids going down to the BMX track and not coming home until about 5:00 PM, unless one of us was on fire or bleeding profusely, and with unfiltered Internet access (even a couplea times breaking into my cousin's "secret" Playboy stash!) and I can't think of one moment any of us have become sex maniacs or drug users, among other vices! Funny how it seems kids these days who are exposed to these things supposedly are guaranteed to become sex freaks and/or druggies................ However, I'm not Dr. Crane, I just play him on a discussion forum. (Sorry Beano, couldn't resist........)

I miss the days, when you could occassionally see a woman flash her boobs on the tv, now thy always have a delay. Rent a Porn NWokie, you will see plenty of breasts, and I'm not talking about finger licken good KFC breasts. By the way is their any research that shows kids who are exposed to sex violence, boozing as kids, turn out to be raging nympho-maniacs?
